    Mathematician, Programmer and Translator

    Germany - Last active: 3 days ago - Tests: 18 - Portfolio: 5

    I just finished my studies of mathematics with focus on physics and computer sciences in Iceland. Next to my studies, I have been programming already for several years on a freelance basis and provide professional translation services. The programs that I created so far mostly are GUI applications under Windows, as well as web-based applications using PHP and javascript. In addition to these experiences, I have also intensive knowledge of C/C++, Matlab, R, and various other programming languages. You can see some of my programs in my portfolio and on my website. In addition to being a programmer, I have also several years of experience as a translator. As a German native speaker, I mostly translate from English to German, and occasionally from German to English. I have lived abroad for more than three years now, and therefore know a couple of other languages as well. These include French, Icelandic, Swedish, Dutch and Bulgarian. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Best wishes, Tom Schiller

    Python System/Web Developer

    Russia - Last active: 1 day ago - Tests: 5 - Portfolio: 3

    Python is my favourite language and I use it for implementing various system utilities and web backends (with Django framework). I am a server-side guy but despite this I also know how client-side (JavaScript, etc.) stuff works. Besides Python I like functional languages: Haskell, Ocaml, Lisp (Scheme) but they are just my hobby.

  8. Joachim K

    Joachim K

    Senior C++ Developer

    Germany - Last active: 12/17/2014 - Tests: 7

    I have worked as a professional programmer for nearly 20 years. My focus is on high-performance, high-reliability software developed in modern C++. A recent project involved adding »continuation« support to a popular JavaScript VM in order to allow scripts to work within an application while it was using back-tracking algorithms. I then implemented a WebSockets interface to allow debugging the embedded VM and a GUI written using AJAX technology. Much of my work has centered on integrating and expanding heterogenous existing software systems. For example, I added TCP/IP services to a legacy, mainframe-based database system to allow modern clients written in Java to connect to it. A mathematician by education, I enjoy working on complex problems in a demanding environment. While I do offer front-end development using technologies such as Java or AJAX, my main focus is back-end systems programming. My solutions are clean and robust using the tools best suited in any given environment.
