Meticulous Excel Spreadsheet Developer & Writer/Editor/Proofreader

With recent legal training and seven years' work experience in a small-business accounting office, I have learned and acquired the skill of completing detailed, accurate work within set deadlines. Remembering the little things as well as the big picture is essential to good writing and to designing financial spreadsheets.
Concise, persuasive, and well-edited writing was a strong focus in my law-school studies. (I recently graduated from law school and am licensed to practice law in California and the State of Washington.) I'm eager to assist writers in any facet of document editing—from proofreading, to style critique, to content review. And don't worry, I won't introduce "legalese"; I believe that simple, clear, direct content is best. The important thing is for your message to be heard.
In the seven years I worked as a bookkeeper for hospitality and real-estate-development enterprises, I gained considerable skill with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. I succeeded in providing my employer with spreadsheets that automated many aspects of our data entry and accounting calculations. (See my portfolio for a sample of my work.) Most of those projects involved importing and exporting data between Excel and our accounting software. Most also required me to create fairly complex macros, so I have some knowledge of VBA code. Using Excel features such as conditional formatting, data validation, conditional macros, and worksheet protection, I was able to design applications that could be safely and easily used by employees who were unfamiliar with Excel.
My bookkeeping work also gave me experience in high-volume data entry and financial reconciliations. Being able to quickly enter data without errors was one of my strong points.
