I graduated from Reed College with a B.A. in Linguistics, and have since been working as an article writer and language test designer.
For the last year, I was an Item Development Manager for Avant Assessment, where I organized teams of language experts to find, categorize, and perfect passages linguistically relevant to assessment. While the company's approach was functional, focusing on assessment points based on their linguistic function, my academic Linguistic training is in formal Linguistics. As such, I feel I have been given a broader view of approaching language.
As a writer, I have worked blogging about philosophy, science-fiction and fantasy, constructed languages, basic linguistic concepts, and most recently, game theory.
Finally, I have been a tutor in English and Latin (in addition to math and sciences) for over 10 years, most recently tutoring students for the LSAT and the SAT
I have excellent English skills, bolstered by my Linguistics background and my writing-intensive college.
