3D Game Artist

United States - Tests: 13 - Portfolio: 5

I graduated with BA Physics degree from Berkeley in 2006. The root of my huge turn onto game art happened in my junior year there. I redrew my CS roommate’s very bad sketch of a girl into something not so very bad, so he invited me to make and animate 3d models for his class project of making a primitive game engine. I thought I could do it then, but of course, 3d modeling and animation isn’t something could be mastered in two weeks, so it turned out to be an “incomplete” disaster – alright, a complete disaster, but my roommate passed his class, and we had a lot of laugh watching a 3d female character “humping” a mech warrior due to extreme low frame rates during a turn-based fight in his engine. For the two weeks of sacrificing sleep and even grades at Berkeley, I realized I had more passion creating game art than doing experiments, solving integrals, and even playing games, so I chose to learn more about 3d art at the Academy of Art University after graduating from Berkeley. I wouldn’t necessarily say it was a good school choice, but over the years I learned more and more about the game industry inside and outside school. So far I’ve focused on 3d environment art, though I’ve also participated in other related fields now and then. It would be a great opportunity for me to have a chance working at a productive game studios / on an exciting game project. By the way, the same CS roommate and I formed an indie game group called teamCEL during 2009 – 2012. We successfully published an Android game, CellCross, which had been unpublished due to the dissolution of teamCEL. However, CellCross’s Google Play page is still secretly alive at: – Only for people who previously installed the game, unfortunately. So all I could provide is a Google Play screenshot and the tutorial video I made as public proof.

My passion is user experience design. Both businesses and games are an experience for the player or consumer. And with both of them you hope they get invested enough to play more or spend more. I have 2 years professional games industry experience and have worked for companies such as Microsoft Game Studios and SEGA. I have 8 years professional experience in the design industry focussing on branding, web design, marketing, Social Media, on-line PR direction, merchandising and promotional activity. I am open to larger more complex projects and can draw on my network of creatives and engineers to fill in any gaps.

Aleksandar V.

Aleksandar V.

Software developer / system engineer

Serbia - Portfolio: 8

I do have a job, but freelance in my spare time, part-time mostly and lately only in the area of game development. I make all sorts of video games for various platforms, 2d/3d C++ and OpenGL cross-platform games, as well as 2d and 3d AS3 games for browsers, AIR for desktops and mobile platforms. IMPORTANT: 1.In case of Flash, Flex and AIR, I use free FlashDevelop IDE with free and downloadable Flex compiler for development in AS3, simply because it allows me to be 2 times more productive than in Adobe's IDE. This means that I'm not able to open nor create FLA files. I don't use layers and timeline when programming, my coding style is pure OOP. I love AS3, because it allows me to program in a way that is very close to C++, the language I program in for a very long time. 2. In case of C/C++ development I used free CodeBlocks IDE and free MinGW or GNU C/C++ compilers depending on the platform. The advantage is that once written the source code only needs to be recompiled on another platform without the need to change anything. 3. In case of Unity development I don't program in C#, but in JavaScript-like alternative provided. It simply enables me to do more by writing less thus entire development takes less time. Most people don't even know there's an alternative to C# when developing in Unity.
