I've been writing software for user interface research for seven years. Many of my past projects involved the integration of physical interaction devices (e.g., tangible interfaces, multitouch, large displays, etc.) with applications that are often deployed in remote distributed use contexts. My focus has been on building tools to make building such applications easier and more common. Toward this I wrote a runtime and API for distributed user interfaces, for which I've written client bindings in python, java, C# and C++.
I've also worked with computer scientists and computational scientists to develop visualization applications to analyze large data sets (hundreds of gigabytes) through the use of high speed optical networks, many core computing clusters, and massive storage.
I have experience in the following areas:
- XML-RPC, ZeroC Internet Communication Engine, ZeroMQ, JSON, OpenSoundControl (OSC), TUIO
- Java Swing, Java SWT, pygame, the Visualization Toolkit (VTK), Processing
- SQL, MySQL, SQLite
- LaTeX, BibTeX, MS Office, iWork, CorelDraw X4/X5
- Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows
