Michael is a degree qualified software engineer with a decade of experience in the delivery of information and communications technology solutions to the public sector, and a desire to specialise in IT security. He has six years experience as an adult educator, developing and delivering information technology courses from Certificate III through to post-graduate university units. Since his original career as a military officer, Michael has been heavily involved in team leadership, mentoring, scheduling and planning, risk analysis and quality management, issues management and facilitation of stakeholder communication.
Michael has had exposure and success across a broad range of environments and projects; implementation of automated testing with Rational Robot, .NET web sites and web services, mainframe back-ends and proprietary systems, development and delivery of software development, testing and project management courses, and the development and delivery of assessment tools. He has experience and diverse business knowledge across the military, education, physical security, software development, health, transport regulation, superannuation, and test automation fields.
Michael's main pillars of experience are in testing, Windows desktop systems and training. The definite strengths to these pillars are his keen analytical skills, determined trouble-shooting, creative problem solving, and outstanding communication skills.
In the field of systems and software testing, Michael has achieved the ISTQB Foundation level qualification, and has significant experience as a test analyst, test engineer and test manager, including three years of experience as a test environment manager across concurrent software, desktop SOE and integrated telecommunications programs.
Across desktop environments, Michael has a long history with Windows operating systems, from Windows 3.11 through to Windows 7 and 8, and was previously qualified as MCP for Windows 98 SE. Such skills have been invaluable in providing local in-team support to colleagues, as well as providing the backbone of the trouble-shooting skills required in dynamic testing environments.
In the education sector Michael has performed as a vocational trainer (four and half years), a semester as a university tutor, and four semesters as a contracted lecturer.
