If you're looking for a seasoned copywriter to produce copy that generates REAL financial results for your business, I'm the person you're looking for. My copywriting experience is extensive. I have been a writer for more than five years, and during that time, I've written just about every type of direct response copy imaginable, including: - Sales letters - Landing pages - Squeeze pages - Email news letters - Video scripts - And more One thing I've learned over the years is that what makes the difference between good and bad copy is often subtle little things, like word choice, formatting and headline phrasing. I am fascinated by ... morethese little factors that make the difference between copy that makes the sale and copy that fails, and I write about them regularly in my blog, at So if you're interested in working with a writer who eats, breathes and sleeps copy, work with me. Can You Sell With Words?
To be fair this was a very rushed job to deploy some new marketing copy prior to an ad campaign. During the interview process I specifically asked when could the applicant devote an entire day to the project. Upon hiring I reiterated the importance of completing this task quickly so that my web developers could take it and the ad campaign could begin. He started on Wednesday with a Q&A session; most of the key points that I laid out were missed. Wednesday night he was unable to deliver asked for Thursday afternoon. Thursday afternoon we got copy that could have been written by a kindergartner, and on Friday (when he promised to review and submit new copy) he went silent. We attempted numerous times to reach him, no response (although Skype and XMPP showed him online and active). I hate to leave negative feedback. But for $45/hr to write copy, there needs to be some professionalism.
    Freelancer's Response
I normally give refunds when clients aren't satisfied with work but in this case I'm just going to respond to the feedback instead. First, regarding the timing and deadline issues... ... I told Kelvin that I could devote a full day on Wednesday. The first part of our project was to start with an interview. Kelvin said he'd be up by noon... He was up at 2:30, 2 hours later than I had expected, which contributed to why I could not complete the copy same day. On Thursday, I turned in a first draft. We had a copy review session with myself, Kelvin and Kelvin's partner. Kelvin's partner was happy with my copy. Kelvin himself asked me to change like 5 small things (in a copy that came in at 1700 words), giving no indication that he was upset or unsatisfied with it overall. Where things did start to go a little south--and here I will admit my fault--was with the deadline for an additional page that was to be added to the copy I had already completed. Here I did in fact deliver about 14 hours later than when I said I would--not because I blew Kelvin off or forgot about the project, but because I was juggling several projects and the deadline I had committed to ended up having been, in hindsight, unrealistic. At this point things went south. Kelvin was upset about the missed deadline--again, by a matter of 12 or 14 hours, I hardly went AWOL on him or anything--and decided to pause the contract. Understanding that he had reason to be upset, I offered to complete the remaining copy for free. I did. I understand that Kelvin had the right to be upset about the (slightly) missed deadline, but I object to this review because it appears as though he's attacking my writing skills just out of spite. He gave no indication that he was majorly unhappy with my writing when we sat down to review it, and in fact, his partner seemed happy with it. It seems he took the delay in getting revisions back to him to heart and went overboard with criticism in response.
