I have always been fascinated with words - their music, ... moretheir history, their essence. Analysing literary texts, understanding how languages work, are very stimulating activities to me. I love working with words and I cannot imagine doing otherwise. I fell in love with English when I was eleven. My affinities with that language felt oddly innate. I just seemed to know how it worked. As a teenager, one of my favourite games was to listen to a song and write down the lyrics as I understood them. I later took English Studies at the University and graduated with honours. I also happen to love and admire French, my mother tongue. My command of it is simply what one could expect from a native, educated and literary person. Doing the maths was therefore easy to me. I became a literary translator, and I enjoy that creative craft immensely. To this day, I have fourteen published translations to my name. Time and experience have certainly taught me the importance of meeting deadlines, and of doing research efficiently. The Internet, Word and Excel have thus been my long-time allies. I enjoy making spreadsheets and doing secretarial work. I have been the personal assistant to a businessman for a few months, and found that experience very rewarding. I can work with Mac OS, Windows or Linux systems. I am easily engrossed when interested and, having a perfectionist approach to the tasks I undertake, I can work long hours without noticing it. This is true for my job, but also for my hobbies: cooking, photography and calligraphy. Finally, I have a fair knowledge of the French publishing world. I also know what professors expect from a copy, at least in my country. So, I am here to find new and exciting ways of using my craft; to meet new challenges, and people. The human side of any job is indeed very important to me, and if you share that view, and like my profile, I am sure we will both gain a lot from our future collaboration. less
