Magazine Design (20-24 pages)
Dec 2014 - Jan 2015
Context is important before you decide if my feedback is worthy of your attention. The first layer is that I would consider myself to be someone that expects a very high standard from graphic designers. I have a clear sense of what I am looking for (which can also be translated as opinionated) and expect a very high level of quality from graphic design.
As an entrepreneur in brain science I must be vigilant of any detail that may discredit our work. Against this backdrop I select graphic designers who demonstrate professionalism, ability and adaptability. I have been reluctant to use e-lance as one is as likely to find a plethora of offers with an equally abundant amount of young, unreliable free-lancers that may or may not care about their work.
I posted a job for a 20-24 page magazine and ended up producing a 48 page magazine. Claudia was superb in the three categories by which I define superb. She was deeply committed to delivering a product that was in line with my expectations. She adjusted the designs based on my feedback but was also able to strike a balance recommending valuable feedback to improve upon my initial idea. We ended up with a product that was far more visually appealing than that which I could have ever envisioned. This alone demonstrated her ability, professionalism and adaptability.
The end product was more than twice the amount of work that I recruited her for and more than double the quality I expected. My expectations were high as what we produced represents years of work for me and represents the essence of our work to prospective clients. I never envisioned being able to provide such a positive feedback to an e-lance freelancer. You?d be silly to not hire her although I hope she remains available for me in the future!
