I've been traveling the IT road for over 10 years ... morenow, and the various paths I've taken have given me more or less knowledge in a variety of fields ranging from systems administration and front-end web development as majors, to networking, SEO, graphics design, PHP programming and resource retrieval/data management as minors. I do not live and breathe IT as others claim however, I enjoy the work I do and I do my best to be as efficient and as useful as I can (while always putting the client's interest before my own financial gains) but I am fully aware that there is a world out there outside the PC/Mac and I do my best to discover it and enjoy it fully. To this end I consider my work a means to an end and this end is exploring and learning as much as I can about the world, while at the same time doing my best to improve it and be a constantly positive influence. As to more practical aspects, my hourly rate is usually negotiable depending on the length and complexity of the contract. What that literally means is that I will usually take on work offers me a steady or larger income over time for a lower hourly rate. If you feel your project fits that description don't be put off by my current rates and ask. As a list of particular pieces of knowledge I have garnered in the past few years and am skilled at I can include: - Amazon EC2 setups with Autoscaling and high-throughput testing using Tsung - varnish cache setup and optimization - Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, Fisheye, etc) setup and management on both Linux and Windows hosts - Load-balancing setups with keepalived and haproxy - MySQL replication and basic clustering w/ keepalived automatic failover - Xen virtualization Whether or not you should choose to work with me I would ask that you give some of your time (and hopefully some of your money) to support these wonderful programs that I also contribute to and that I believe are making a consistent effort towards positive change in the world: http://www.kiva.org http://www.thewaterproject.org/ http://www.responsiblecharity.org/ less
