Powerful, persuasive communication is a must for any organization looking to thrive in 21st century America. It is the very thing that enables you to educate the public as to your mission and services; it is the only hope for success in the ever-more-competitive world of securing grants. It is also the area in which I excel. My written and oral communication skills were forged over a quarter-century of daily newspaper reporting and editing and have been sharpened in my current career as a grant writer. Indeed, they have proven so effective that I have secured for my employers health and education ... grants from the likes of the National Park Service, U.S.D.A., the National Endowment for the Arts, AmeriCorps and the State of California’s Tobacco Use Prevention Education program. I have been involved in every part of the process – from researching potential grants and conducting needs assessments to coordinating those efforts with a variety of political, health and social services and law enforcement agencies. Suffice it to say, working effectively both individually and as part of a team – to say nothing of meeting tight deadlines without sacrificing one iota of quality – are second nature to me.
