New hire assumes CEO Stephane Kasriel’s former role as head of engineering to drive innovation and bolster the freelance talent marketplace’s strong tech leadership
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- June 30, 2015 -- Upwork, the world’s largest freelance talent marketplace, today announced that Han Yuan has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Engineering, effective immediately. With a track record of building and leading world-class engineering teams at marquis technology companies, Yuan will oversee Upwork’s full platform and distributed technical team of 300+ engineers -- a role formerly held by CEO Stephane Kasriel. Prior to joining Upwork, Yuan led engineering teams at both early-stage and Fortune 500 companies -- including Trintech, Netflix and eBay.

Yuan holds both a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California at Berkeley. He also holds five patents in solutions such as financial systems, display characteristic use and enterprise risk management.
