Santa Clara, Calif. – July 30, 2019 – Upwork (Nasdaq:UPWK), the largest freelancing website, today announced that Chief Marketing and Product Officer Hayden Brown has been honored as part of the prestigious Staffing Industry Analyst’s (SIA) annual 40 Under 40, which recognizes an up-and-coming group of leaders making their mark on the workforce solutions ecosystem. Now in its third year, SIA’s 40 Under 40 showcases rising stars who are making an impact with their strategic vision and motivation to grow their team, companies and the industry.
In her role, Brown oversees all of the company’s global product and marketing efforts and is the leading force behind the development and marketing of a product that enables independent professionals and clients around the globe to work together in a new model that reduces friction in the hiring and job-finding paradigm. Brown is driven to help organizations rethink how they source talent in order to thrive in the new economy.
“Growing up in Nepal, I saw early on that there are amazing, talented and educated people all over the world who don’t have access to opportunities. At Upwork, we believe the problem isn’t a ‘skills gap’ in today’s workforce but rather that the true problem is a ‘matching gap’ where companies and workers have an issue connecting. I have the privilege of helping to solve that by building solutions that help our clients find talent from anywhere in the world and creating more economic opportunities for people along the way.”
Brown also dedicates time to ensure women can thrive in the workplace. She co-founded and serves as an executive sponsor of the Women’s Group at Upwork, which aims to foster a supportive community, dialog and advocacy amongst and for the women at the company.
Prior to joining Upwork, Brown was the head of corporate development at LivePerson and previously held strategy and M&A roles at Microsoft and McKinsey & Company.
