Project details

While the old adage of "Don't judge a book by its cover" is sound advice, the reality is that people primarily determine if they are interested in a book after 5 seconds of looking solely at the front cover. Even more importantly, you need to make sure your book cover meets all industry standards and is professionally produced. Work with someone who is very experienced in the industry and conforms to the Independent Book Publisher's Association design guidelines. You will come away with a beautiful, professional cover that will help make sure your book gets all the success it deserves. Basic package comes with an ebook cover. Standard and Advanced packages include a full paperback cover and an ebook cover.

I have worked professionally in both magazine and book publishing. Through my experience running a boutique publishing department, I have developed expertise in working with authors, publishers, and small businesses helping them with editing, formatting/typesetting, author coaching, project management consulting, copywriting, and technical writing initiatives. I am an experienced copyeditor and developmental editor, working on both nonfiction and fiction manuscripts. I coach authors through the writing process and also consult with authors through the publishing process, be it through traditional publishing routes or self-publishing.

1. Editor
I offer developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading services. Not sure which you need? Developmental editing comes first and covers story development, character development, overall structure and tone—basically the big picture view of your manuscript. Copyediting is next and covers sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, etc. Finally, proofreading is the last step and comes after a manuscript has been completely formatted and is almost ready to print. It covers reviewing the manuscript for minor typographical errors. I am proficient in both Chicago Style and AP style, and I have experience editing fiction, nonfiction, articles, and dissertations.

2. Formatting & Cover design
Interior formatting, typesetting, and design for novels, nonfiction, and children's books, as well as magazine layout. Print-ready pdfs and digital epub files provided. Cover design services also available for both print and ebook.

3. Author Coaching
Author coaching covers any number of things. Some authors and students need help with writing skills. I also help authors with the writing and research processes, world building, character development, help them move through writing blocks, and anything else the author needs to complete their manuscript, be it fiction or nonfiction. This service also covers helping authors get started in the publishing process in whatever route they choose—traditional agented, boutique press, hybrid press, or self-publishing.

4. Publishing Consulting
As a consultant, I help authors and boutique publishers with project management through every step of the publishing process.

5. Ghostwriting & Copywriting
I am an experienced writer with several articles published. Through my work as an editor, I have also written or re-written excerpts of books and book descriptions. There are many types of ghost writing, I can help you choose the right method to get your story told the right way, whether it is as a book, short story, or article.

6. Technical Writing and Editing
I have experience writing how-to guides, project manuals, and infographics. I also recently completed my certificate in technical writing. I am eager to put it to use and help you with your technical writing project.

I take an individual approach to each project I work on and tailor it to my client's needs. I am happy to provide references as well as samples of my work. I look forward to working with you on your next project!
