Characters are virtual human beings. In real life, we can judge the characteristics of a person based on their looks and gestures. In the art world, we do exactly the opposite. We first determine and write down the characteristics of the virtual being, and then draw them :)
If we have a strong traits list, our character design will turn out stronger!

Gujarati Vocabulary Books
Hema is absolutely incredible - a true talent and a joy to work with. We've collaborated on a set of language children's books over the past six months and meetings with her, brainstorming through ideas, seeing her take concepts and create beautiful illustrations from them, and just chatting with her in general have been highlights of each and every week for me. There have been many pages of our books requiring no edits at all once she puts pen to paper. There have also been others that have gone through multiple iterations as we continue to ideate and explore potential options, but she has approached each change with immense patience and talent. She listens to exactly what I'm saying, but also kindly suggests her own ideas/thoughts based on her expertise in this world. She has brought life to these children's books with her artistic brilliance and has turned my ideas and general direction into something kids (and adults) absolutely love. Hema is also quick to respond to my questions and many texts while also making time to meet multiple times a week in order to keep us on track. In these past two weeks, as we worked towards a deadline, she went above and beyond (one time on calls with me for 7 hours in one day!) to wrap up our pages. Anyone would be lucky to work with her and your project will be infinitely better if you are lucky enough to do so. Because of her genuine and loving personality, she has become not only my wonderful illustrator but a dear friend as well.
