My expertise in foundation design using SAFE software is extensive. I follow the ACI 318 - 14 code and can model different types of foundations with SAFE. I can also apply loads and design parameters, check the results, and generate reports.
Foundation types to design:
There are different types of foundation designs for buildings depending on the soil conditions and the structural loads.
• Isolated foundation: This type of foundation consists of individual footings for each column or pier. It is suitable for soils with good bearing capacity and moderate settlement.
• Combined foundation: This type of foundation connects two or more footings by a beam or a slab. It is used when the footings are close to each other or when the soil is weak and uneven.
• Strip foundation: This type of foundation consists of continuous strips of concrete or masonry along the walls or rows of columns. It is used for low-rise buildings with light loads and uniform soil.
• Mat foundation: This type of foundation consists of a thick slab covering the entire area of the building. It is used for high-rise buildings with heavy loads or when the soil is very poor and has a low bearing capacity.
