As a designer, I understand that we are not only responsible for how humans respond to their environment, but also ultimately responsible in many cases for how the environment will end up responding to humans. I design in much the way I use art, or my imagination, in an attempt to change my reality into something more beautiful in aesthetic as well as use. Realising that the circumstances that surround us are less than desirable, I attempt to discover why. My approach to design is to be curious, to doubt, and to lean as little as possible on other designs for inspiration aside from the greatest design, that of nature. Therefore, Leonardo da Vinci inspires my approach to design with his unquenchable thirst to observe nature. However, my reasons for design are different to that of da Vinci. I design as a reaction to my emotions and thoughts and what I believe they should be since this is where the most honest response to the environment takes place. With these in mind, my sole purpose as a designer is to create the correct responses between people and their environment.
SOFT SKILLS
From my educational background as a home-schooler I have developed a wide range of interests and several soft skills, or character traits. I am not only creative artistically, due to my artistic background and passion, but also creative with regards to problem solving. Since I am self-taught in a number of the programs I use, I have acquired an attitude of persistence and problem solving. I have further developed this character trait with my studies in Industrial Design, as design itself requires the designer to reconstruct problems as opportunities. From my autodidactic background, I have also learned the skills of determination and self-motivation, often pushing boundaries in what is possible in many areas of my learning. I have a passion for learning and I am constantly broadening my horizons through education, both formal and informal. This has resulted in a broad and varied skillset, and many developing side hobbies. The outcome is that I am very versatile and adaptable, and take pleasure in becoming ever more so.
