Project details

I will examine the following and ask you nearly 100 questions to confirm the design is complete
-Rib Wall Ratios (If incorrect, this is what causes sink in your part if not identified and a solution applied)
-Shutoffs / Parting Lines ( The tool shop will send the part back as a result of not being able to split the tool)
 - Highlight areas prone to sink in your current design and suggest ways to correct it
-Draft –Check general draft, Shutoffs, and draft for desired texture. I will examine your part based on the input you provide
 -Nominal walls
 -Highlight undercuts
I will highlight any areas that
-will result in ugly witness lines as a result of a required side action
-need modifications to be moldable detailing what needs to be modified
-I am new to Upwork as of FEB 2022- Thus the lack of reviews at this point – I have hundreds of parts on the market
-$125 Per 1 hr of design review gets you as many part reviews as we can fit into an hr review - We can typically get through several parts
-Reviewed by an Engineer based in the USA and available during regular USA working hours
-You will have a moldable design when we are done if you correctly follow my guidance

Review DFM Report for Injection Molding I'm new to injection molding, Ryan took the extra time and explained things so that I had a clearer understanding and was very thorough in pointing out areas that might be of concern in our model, and ways to correct them. Will definitely work with him again on future projects!

CAD Engineering Drawing Design Ryan is extremely patient, a very good listener and has excellent CAD/DFM skills. He was able to take my crazy idea and turn it into a drawing - while also making great suggestions and providing feedback to prevent potential issues. His communication skills are top notch, and he turned things around when he said he would and was always cognizant of the budget. I highly recommend Ryan for any project - he will get it done for you professionally, beautifully, on-time and on-budget. Ryan is truly a CAD and design professional - I learned so much just from listening to him explain how he was going to handle my project! He knows the software tools, he understands all of the principals needed for effective manufacturing and knocked it out of the park for me.

New Richmond, United States - 8:45 am local time
Are you looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer that has been creating designs for over 30+ years using Solidworks? A Product Design Engineer where their core expertise skillset is designing parts for Injection molding but also has a strong mechanical aptitude, great at brainstorming and also has knowledge of many other process’s? A person that knows what it takes to create a moldable design that results in a error free, fully parametrically and fully constrained CAD model when we are ready to launch? I am your guy. After working for one of the largest injection molders in the United States for 29 years I decided to take my knowledge to the open market and go off on my own as a full time independent contractor. I built a solid foundation by beginning my career in the trades and on the shop floor, building molds, running & programming CNC’s, Edms, Bridgeport's, as well as setting up and running Rapid Prototyping equipment. After gaining a in depth knowledge of what goes into a the procedures that will ultimately make the parts, I left the shop to chase my end dream of being a Product Design Engineer. Armed with the first hand knowledge of what makes a bad designs I began incorporating all the shop knowledge gained into each and every design that has followed. That shop experience laid the ground work to fully understand and appreciate the importance and impact of not following the basic design principles of plastic part design. Parting lines, shutoffs, nominal walls, rib wall ratios, poor steel conditions, while still having enough land to eject a part are all key items to that are often overlooked. Ask your prospective designers if they fully understand all of those items. The tool shops don’t “just take care of those things” as some will tell you. I include all those items into my designs leaving as big of a processing window as possible for the molder so that they can focus on fine tuning the press for speed (aka yield) vs using the processing window to chase part design issues. Ie Sink, warp, etc… Another service I offer is to do nothing more than review your designers design for DFM and provide feedback on what needs refinement.

While a good number of my clients have been fortune 500 companies, I won’t hesitate to work with small companies, independent inventors or startups. I am passionate about designing and enjoy the variety. We will start by getting a NDA in place and then have a candid conversation to paint clear expectations for both parties as I gain solid understanding of what your asking for and where your at in the process. If I don't have the proper skillsets, I will excuse myself from the opportunity. From there I will get to work and begin creating the design from whatever point its currently at.

This is not a side hustle for me. This is what I do for a living. I am available during all hours of the day, and will hop on a Zoom call at a moments notice if I am available. I am a certified Solidworks professional (CSWP) and have a mid-west(New Richmond WI) farm boy work ethic. I do whatever it take to get the job done by the required deadline. I have hundreds of parts on the market in every market and would be glad to share more detail about them during our interview process. I have stuffed hundreds of circuit boards into plastic and magnesium molded enclosures over the years for all the markets. Sport and Rec, Farm, Military, Consumer, Medical and Automotive you name it. I have a strong manufacturing background and I share several patents on several complex products with others. I own my license of Solidworks and can accommodate whatever version you wish to work in.

Worried about remote design work? I have proven that remote designing can work with excellent communication. Should I not be able to pick up the phone, I will always respond to a phone call, email or text within two hours even if it’s just to tell you when I can address your question. I won’t hesitate to jump on Zoom call to work thru whatever is needed. I have clients in California, Massachusetts, Texas, Idaho, Florida, WI, MN, Nebraska, & the Dakota’s, I have never met most clients in person, and most have come to me thru referrals which I feel speaks volumes for the work I have done for previous clients. One of my recent designs, helped my customer land a deal with Microsoft and the US government worth $22 Billion dollars. A few years back I revamped a security line of products and took 1st place at CES two years in a row.

I am willing to arrive onsite for major kickoffs or milestone reviews when / if needed. I have an established network of supporting manufactures that can make the transition of design into production a smooth transition if you have no clue where to go after the design is complete. I always offer an initial no obligation design review if a CAD model currently exists. Shoot me a message for a pdf portfolio of career projects

I look forward to discussing your project with you.
