Quran Speech Recognition Mobile Application (iOS/Android) Developer Dr. Fatih led the machine learning core development team and managed the development of our core ASR model. His expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) proved to be invaluable as he developed incredibly complex transliterations (with complex grammar processing). As well, his domain knowledge in signal processing and automatic speech recognition systems led to him training, fine-tuning and inferring sequence-to-sequence SR models. He is a core asset to the team and we intend to continue our work with him in the near future.

I have a number of advanced degrees: an M.S. from the Department of Computer Engineering at Istanbul University (2005), as well as a Ph.D. from the same department at Istanbul University (2009). Upon completion of my Ph.D., I had a research position at the University of North Caroline at Chapel Hill in the Chemistry Department, where I developed algorithms and software for high-throughput RNA structure analysis. I have since accepted a professorship with Yildiz Technical University in the Department of Computer Engineering and was promoted to Associate Professor in September of 2014.

My primary work area is Data Science. I have a very strong background in Computer Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Mining, Machine Learning, and Bioinformatics. In addition, I have expertise in signal, image, and speech processing areas, especially in their application to biometrics and biomedical informatics. I authored/coauthored over 30 publications including journals and conferences related to these areas. Therefore the positions related to these areas are more suitable for me. I can extensively examine the literature and then propose a new approach to solve the problem. I can also develop computer programs and software using Python, R programming, and Matlab.

Beyond my great research successes, I have been fortunate to obtain a wide range of teaching experiences. I have thought 11 different graduate/undergraduate courses (Data Mining, Machine Learning, Multivariate Statistical Analysis, Bioinformatics, Signal and Image Processing etc.). I am really enthusiastic to teach and interact with students. I have supervised more than 10 graduate students and also undergraduate final projects. My ultimate aim is to share my knowledge with you.

In addition to extensive research and teaching experiences, I have been involved in some industrial projects. I have worked closely with some private companies as an academic consultant. I have employed my academic experience to develop some real-life applications such as biometrics and fraud detection. This way, I managed to translate my theoretical knowledge into practical products/projects.
