Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst and Cartographer

My name is David, and I have my Bachelor's degree in Geography from the University of California: Los Angeles. I have three years of experience working with Geographic Information Systems. Throughout my education, I have worked extensively with ArcGIS and QGIS to complete a diverse array of static maps, online maps, and analysis reports.
GIS is not only my profession, it is my hobby. I have conducted several side projects over the years out of enjoyment of the process, development, and the creative aspect of GIS. A majority of those mapping projects have focused on depicting and analyzing climatological phenomenon. I am very interested in the roll of GIS in mitigating and adapting to global climate change.
Before transferring to UCLA, I studied Political Science and Geography concurrently. I have attended three field study excursions conducted by the Geography Department of Ventura College, each of which were three days in duration and included intensive study of the physical landscape. Working in the field helped to lay the foundation of my GIS studies. Additionally, I was Vice President of the Political Science Club which strengthened and refined my team working and communication skills.
I have 5 years of experience as a personal contractor, and have excellent time management skills as a result. I put the needs of my clients first, and am able to adapt to whatever conditions are necessary to complete a project. GIS is truly my passion, and I believe that makes all the difference when challenges arise during a project.
