In 2021, to refresh my knowledge and enhance my techniques, I completed the ITA Online TEFL/TESOL Certification Course (International TEFL Academy).
My lessons are student-focused, and continuously adapted according to the level and progress of individual students. Topics covered include pronunciation, conversation, exam preparation, reading comprehension, writing correction, or job interview preparation.
I offer lessons on weekends and most weekdays/evenings. Please get in touch with me to arrange a time that suits you (my hours are pretty flexible).

I'm a TEFL Certified (ITQUK) freelance EFL/ESL tutor; I’m also a highly skilled Finance Professional with extensive experience in the International Development sector.
My First Language is English, and I’m fluent in Afrikaans. I also have intermediate level skills in French, and I’m at beginner level in Arabic (MSA), Spanish and Portuguese.
Since 2020, I've taught more than 240 lesson hours to students at all levels, both online and in-person. My students come from diverse backgrounds and age groups, and are located in various parts of the world, including Canada, France, Tunisia, Senegal, Taiwan and Belgium.

12+ years’ experience in the International Development sector, with a high level of proficiency, including grant/award management, budgeting, cash management, variance analysis, financial reporting, and implementing financial controls.
I've worked with various accounting packages, including QuickBooks, PeopleSoft and Abila MIP. I’m also proficient in essential computer software such as Outlook and Word, and I’ve used Excel to an advanced level, including calculations and data manipulation using IF functions, Lookup functions, Pivot tables and calculating data across worksheets.
Effective time management, good organisational skills, and excellent attention to detail are evident in my proven track record of quality work and consistently meeting deadlines.
Examples of where I’ve been involved with problem solving and process improvement include the following:
- Developed a new template and detailed instructions for PS Financials journal uploads, and provided the required level of related training and support to finance colleagues
- Developed the format for Balance Sheet account reconciliations, which was rolled out as a regional template
- Led the development of a Regional centralized accounts payable system, in preparation for the introduction of a planned purchase-to-pay system. This involved outlining a detailed process (including related forms, supporting documentation, workflows and deadlines), communicating the process to the relevant stakeholders and providing support as needed
