Audio-Visual Music Producer with Max and Touch Designer Experience
London, United Kingdom - 1:53 am local time
His musical debut was with the Leeds Symphony Orchestra in 2016 where a successful first performance led to two further appearances on the programme later that season. This created an ongoing relationship with the orchestra as both a composer and performer, leading to a commission by The Chamber Orchestra of Leeds; Reflections was first performed in February of 2019 at the Chamber Orchestra’s debut concert. Since then, following the support and guidance from conductor Martin Binks MBE, Ben has had numerous pieces and installations performed both in and out of the RCM. Highlights include:
SPECTRUM, an audio-visual installation piece for cello and live electronics, performed in the RCM’s Britten Theatre in the summer of 2022.
Performances of Flow State, Eternal Blossom, Drifting Swallows, Chroma Stasis, and more whilst in New York City.
Music featured on BBC radio 3’s Introducing show.
Musical Director and Composer of additional music for a production of Jason Robert Brown’s 13 the musical with the Freedom Performing Arts.
Aside from composing, Ben is actively involved with the music of his local community, conducting in a variety of Yorkshire ensembles such as Harrogate Male Voice Choir’s 50th Anniversary concert with Voces8 at the Royal Hall, Harrogate, and composing an experimental sensory workshop piece for the visually impaired which combined both acoustic and electronic composition. This recently extended to a collaboration with the composition department at the Royal College of Music as a composer and website programmer for Treephonia, an interactive website to explore the connections between sound and the natural world in Kensington Gardens, London.
Going forwards Ben hopes to create more multidisciplinary works, focusing on projects such as FLOW STATE, an electronic music project combining visuals and music, as well as creating a virtual reality installation piece to be displayed in London in 2023 (location and date TBC).
