I thoroughly enjoy fixing phrases that might not sound quite right, building more descriptive text in areas you feel need improvement, and ensuring consistency of flow and structure.
Proofreader: I've corrected spelling, grammar, and punctuation for hundreds of items, from one-page letters to epic-length novels. The subjects range from simple children's books to quantum mechanics and everything in between. If unsure about a topic, I don't hesitate to ask the client questions about the text to ensure a phrase conveys the intended meaning.
Senior Editor: As the sole text editor for DracoArts Studio since February 2003, my responsibilities include:
Writing copy for advertisements and newspaper articles
Editing the text of my own and others' articles

My skills contribute to improved marketing campaigns for the companies whose promotions in which I participate.
That work included proofreading County Woman Magazine, a monthly multi-subject edition of 48-64 pages. I consistently improved the quality of the articles I edited.
Books: Besides being a published fiction and non-fiction author, I have edited and written copy for over twenty years. I thoroughly enjoy the detail required for such work, even in cases where the original author has little knowledge of grammar or even English language usage. I have successfully copy, line, and developmentally edited manuscripts up to 150,000 words.
Children's Books: As one of my favorite subjects to work on, I have written, edited, or developmentally edited over eighty children's books for ages 4-16. This work includes numerous foreign writers who wanted to make their text work for English speakers and ESL (English as Second Language) readers for ages 4-11.
Your work will not be handed off to someone you've never spoken to after you hire me, like many of the expensive agencies that make grandiose promises. All work and communication will be done directly with me. I will be far from the least costly freelancer you could find on Upwork, but my experience and expertise are worth the extra investment.
