There are many writers out there that believe they can write on any topic. When it comes to scuba diving, they are wrong. Scuba diving is a very safe sport because we have mandatory training. There are principles and concepts that are drilled until they become second nature. A Non-diver writing about our sport will not understand these concepts, and it is very easy to see in their writing. They often give advice that is not only wrong but if followed could cause harm.
I am one of the leading writers in the recreational scuba diving field, having written for many of the leading websites. I became a certified diver 20 years ago, an advance open water diver with eight specialties, and have over 650 dives. While not a dive professional, I do have experience on the business side having created business plans for both PADI and SSI facilities. I have helped develop new dive resorts. As a member of the board of advisors of the Subic Bay Dive Association, I have been involved with all aspects of dive operations and dive tourism.
