As a transcriptionist, I transcribe recorded dictations into written form. The job often entails listening to audio recordings and typing out what is heard, either in a word processing program or using a stenotype machine.
As an intermediate Proofreader, I work on giving my clients the best experience by catching spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. I also look at the formatting to make certain all elements are included and appear as they should, spotting things like a sentence appearing twice or accidentally getting omitted, a headline failing to show as bold, or the date missing from a document.
There are two types of proofreaders;
I. The straight to it type; Those that make use of auto correct and grammar applications to do corrections and
II.The pragmatic type; Those that take their time to go through the content of the project, make spelling and grammar corrections, restyle the content pattern to make it have a good structure and also make it easier to read.
I'm sure I fall in the second category but will leave that for you to judge.
