Project details
Sometimes you know your manuscript isn't done, but you don't know what to do with it—that's where an editorial assessment comes in.
In my review, I will carefully read your book and make a lonnnnnggg list of comments, suggestions, further reading, knee jerk reactions, questions, and other feedback which will help you understand how your book or story comes across. I will recommend sections to add, omit, reorganize, expand, edit, or rewrite. I will let you know what works or doesn't work at any point.
My goal is that after the assessment, you will have marching orders for what to do in order to bring your manuscript to the next stage.

About Josh
Experienced, passionate, and excited non-fiction book editor.
Portland, United States - 4:48 pm local time
After graduating from New York Univeristy with a degree in English and Philosophy, I started working at the Knopf and Vintage imprints of Random House. After a year there, I started a literary press called which ran for five years and included Margaret Atwell, Lemony Snicket, and Mark Z. Danielewski as subscribers. As editor-in-chief of the press, I worked with over 800 writers, edited 25 books, and published or workshopped over 1,500 short stories and essays.
After my literary press closed, I was hired as an editor and producer at Melcher Media in New York City. I was responsible for book projects for Former Vice President Al Gore, Garth Brooks, Netflix, Neil Patrick Harris, King Tut, and more. My books—which include one New York Times bestseller and several Amazon bestsellers—have over 2 million copies in circulation.
Working with me as a book producer, you can expect professional-grade publishing, including book cover design, editing, proofreading, fact-checking, printing, and marketing.
As an editor, you can expect substantial edits with well-reasoned comments and tons of dialogue. I find the more I communicate with my clients, the more I understand their goals and can help steer them in the right direction.
I will weed your work of redundancy, cliché, and verbosity that can weigh writing down. I also have a good eye for organization and can recommend new ordering, titling, and formatting, which will help your book flow more naturally. Fact-checking also comes with the job; if you quote statistics or studies, I will make sure there are correct citations (though I don't standardize/format citations). Once I'm done, you will have a clean, modern, engaging manuscript.
I'm looking forward to talking!
