About Gaby

Amman, Jordan - 5:04 pm local time
My career path started in 1991. It entailed protection services delivered to refugees by conducting eligibility interviews with asylum seekers who seek refugee status, in addition to providing translation and interpretation services for people in need. My experiences also entailed delivering relief aid and essential services to neediest groups after conducting needs assessment and house visits. Furthermore, my work skills included projects’ management, supervision of social workers, drafting progress and ad-hoc reports on spending situation and other issues related to donor requirements and projects’ implementation. Drafting concept notes, proposals, situation reports, news releases and briefs, and updated information with regard to refugee needs vis a vis the Jordanian context are among duties I have been entrusted to carry out.
Throughout my work tenure for more than 26 years. Since I am a holder of BA degree in English language and Master's degree in translation, I have acquired different skills and knowledge and practiced different English language-related tasks, including teaching English language to college students and assisting in selecting new employees as a hiring panel member. Currently, my work domain includes advocacy and support for refugees, stressing the importance and justification for sustainability of resources and fundamental needs, maintaining contacts with different decision makers and funding agencies.

Reading and Understanding the Source Language of the Document
I start with reading the work that I have been assigned with; I aim to understand what it is that I am working with. In doing so, I might ask my client questions about their requested document to have a clear understanding of the overall task.
Translation
Translating the task is simple, but can be time-consuming. Firstly, I translate chronologically as I can understand exactly what is meant. Then, I often read each sentence carefully and translate one at a time to guarantee accurate and reliable work.
