Our patented product is registered as a Class I medical device. We have CE and UKCA marking and are registered in the Australia, EU, UK, and many other nations. Our company encountered a pressing matter involving the importation of a vital component from Mexico. Specifically, we faced unforeseen taxes totaling US$1,700 in the United States and US$1,800 in Mexico when importing a non-woven "back-sheet" used in adult diapers or liners. A non-woven “back-sheet” is the outside portion of an adult diaper or liner. It appears that the harmonized tariff code would be 9619 - Sanitary towels (pads) and tampons, diapers and diaper liners for babies and similar articles, of any material. We believe these taxes may have been erroneously applied and are looking for a professional to facilitate the reimbursement of American duties for this shipment, with hopes of also securing a refund for the Mexican taxes. Furthermore, the issue seems to have recurred in at least three previous shipments from Mexico. Moreover, we suspect similar problems have emerged with imports from Italy to the United States involving the same backsheet product. Given these challenges, we are soliciting cost estimates for a comprehensive review of shipping documentation, coordination of refund requests, and a projected timeline for these processes.
