We have purchased a 3D scanner to measure the end of a machined pipe bevel preperation. The software purchased with the equipment is producing an individual report for each pipe end. However, I wish to collate the data from multiple scans and then produce some visualizations, that are updated after each scan.
Geo-Magic Control 2015 is the software that is used to measure the 3D image. The software can output data in any of the following formats(PDF, XPS,XML, HTML, PPT, WORDML,CSV) and can dump the information into a directory. The scripting data in Geo-Magic is using Python. I would like to create a database that continually updates by importing the data after each scan.
I would then like to use analytical software (preference Tableau) and produce some dashboards to show trending of the data for individual scans and multiple groups of scan.
Ultimately the data then would be available in a production environment real time. We are looking to scan approximately 6,000 pipe ends (100 - 200 ends per day) per project on remote sites, but should have internet access to load to cloud storage.
Having read multiple blogs, I believe what I am requesting is not difficult for someone of experience and knowledge, but it is not in my field of expertise. The scope may need to be broken up and happy to do so.
