Azure Virtual Desktop Host Pool Health & Agent Remediation Specialist

Project Overview
We require an experienced Azure Engineer to investigate and remediate availability issues affecting multiple AVD session hosts (e.g. AVD-16, AVD-19) that are reporting as Unavailable or Not Ready in the Azure Virtual Desktop host pool.
The goal is to restore full functionality of all affected hosts so that each reports as Available / Ready with successful health check results across all metrics, including AVD agent, domain trust, URL accessibility, and TURN relay connectivity.

• Platform: Microsoft Azure
• VM OS: Windows 11 Enterprise Multi-session
• Environment: Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) host pool (pooled session hosts)
• Monitoring Tools: Datto RMM, Intune, and Azure Monitor
• Common Issues:
o AVD Agent showing as “Not Ready” or “Disabled”
o Azure VM Agent not reporting
o DomainTrustCheck or UrlsAccessibleCheck failing
o TURN relay probe timeouts
o Run Command not responding due to broken guest agent

🧩 Scope of Work
Tasks Include:
1. Diagnostics and Troubleshooting
o Review AVD host pool session host health and identify failing checks.
o Diagnose issues related to Azure VM Agent, AVD Agent, and SxS stack.
o Validate VM power states, DNS, and network connectivity.
o Identify any outbound or proxy restrictions blocking AVD URLs.
2. Remediation
o Reinstall or repair Azure VM Agent and AVD Agent / Boot Loader as needed.
o Re-register AVD session hosts to host pool using a new registration token.
o Perform controlled reboots using Azure Cloud Shell or Run Command.
o Validate successful health checks post-repair (DomainJoin, DomainTrust, UrlsAccessible, TURN relay).
3. Network Verification
o Confirm outbound access for required endpoints and ports:
 TCP 443 (AVD, AAD, Storage, ServiceBus)
 UDP 3478–3481 (TURN relay / Shortpath)
o Work with firewall/NSG teams if egress restrictions are found.
4. Reporting
o Provide before-and-after screenshots of AVD health status.
o Deliver a final summary of root cause, actions taken, and validation results.
