Create a Digital Magazine for Small Businesses

Summary

We’re looking for an experienced media leader to launch and run a new digital magazine focused on small business, entrepreneurship, and innovation - a publication in the spirit of Fortune, Inc., or Fast Company.

This is not a content-mill project. We’re not looking for AI-generated articles or outsourced blog posts. We’re looking for someone who has built or led a real publication at scale-someone who understands how to create high-quality journalism, build an editorial voice, manage a team of writers and editors, and turn a vision into a living brand.

You will act as the founding editor-in-chief / division CEO, responsible for:

Developing the magazine’s editorial strategy and voice

Recruiting and managing a team of journalists, contributors, and photographers

Creating a consistent cadence of original reporting, features, interviews, and opinion pieces

Overseeing layout, design direction, and digital presentation

Managing publication workflow, deadlines, and content quality

Building relationships with industry leaders and small-business owners for interviews and thought leadership pieces

Coordinating with our internal digital and marketing teams to drive distribution, social presence, and audience growth

Ideal Background:

Experience as Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, or Publisher of a major digital or print magazine

Deep understanding of small business and entrepreneurship content

Proven ability to launch or scale a publication from concept to operation

Strong network of freelance journalists and media contacts

Ability to operate as a self-starter and strategic partner, not just an executor
