Job Title: Research Proposal Instructor in Gender Studies
We seek a highly qualified academic instructor to provide one-on-one research proposal guidance for a graduate-level project in gender studies. The instructor will support the development of a complete research plan from conceptualization to final submission.
Research Focus of the Student
The student’s project investigates gendered financial vulnerability in marriage, centering on the phenomenon of “being indebted” wives. The study examines how marital joint-debt mechanisms produce gender inequality, reinforce women’s economic precarity, and institutionalize asymmetric financial burdens inside households.
Position Responsibilities
The instructor will deliver structured and academically rigorous supervision, including:
• Guiding the development of a full research proposal, from problem formulation to methodological design.
• Assisting in refining theoretical frameworks on gender inequality, feminist political economy, family sociology, and legal-institutional analysis related to marital debt.
• Providing detailed feedback on literature review construction, argument structure, and research questions.
• Advising on methodological choices, including qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method designs, based on the feasibility of the project.
• Ensuring the proposal meets international academic standards for MA/MPhil/PhD-track applications.
• Offering constructive written comments after each session and maintaining consistent progress across weeks.
Required Qualifications
• PhD (preferred) or MPhil in Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Feminist Studies, Social Policy, Law and Society, or related fields.
• Demonstrated research expertise in gender inequality, feminist theory, household economics, marriage and family studies, or legal-gender intersections.
• Strong publication record or active research agenda in gender studies or feminism-focused scholarship.
• Proven experience supervising or mentoring postgraduate students in research design.
• Ability to guide students independently through topic development, literature positioning, and methodological planning.
• Familiarity with global and regional debates on marital debt, household bargaining, and women’s economic security is a strong advantage.
Deliverables
• A complete and academically robust research proposal, including introduction, literature review, theoretical framework, research questions, methodology, and anticipated contributions.
• Structured weekly feedback with clear milestones.
• Final proposal ready for submission to graduate-level academic programs.
Working Format
• Remote teaching, weekly sessions (60–90 minutes).
• Written feedback between sessions.
• Flexible schedule based on mutual agreement.
Application Requirements
Applicants should submit:
• CV with academic background and publications.
• A short statement outlining experience in gender-related research and supervision.
• One sample of previous academic writing (journal article, dissertation chapter, or research report).
This position is suitable for academics committed to high-quality mentorship and capable of offering rigorous, theoretically informed, and methodologically grounded research guidance in gender studies.
