Summary

Hey there!
I’m an independent filmmaker based in Southern California looking for a script doctor to help refine a completed, feature-length horror-comedy screenplay.

What We Need
We’re not looking for a full rewrite.
We need a pro who can read the script carefully, analyze the beats and pacing, and give detailed, actionable feedback on what works and what doesn’t — scene by scene.

You’ll help identify:
• What’s funny (and what’s not)
• What can be condensed
• Which moments could hit harder
• What should stay, and what should go

This isn’t a “read it once and send half a page of generic notes” kind of job. We want real insight — honest, no-BS opinions from someone who knows story rhythm, character dynamics, and tone.
We don’t want line-by-line rewrites or ego trips. We just want a fresh, trained set of eyes who can detach emotionally and help us see the script from above — like an audience of a thousand hearing it for the first time.

About the Project
Title: Two Guys and a Raccoon
Genre: Horror-Comedy / Grindhouse Creature Feature
Logline:
Two washed-up exterminators are called in and trapped with a genetically altered raccoon from a sketchy backyard lab. As the creature mutates, seduces, and kills its way through a family ranch, the duo must contain the pest inside a garage — with the help of a machete-wielding legend — before chaos spreads.
Think Old School meets Evil Dead 2, with a psychotic yet charming raccoon — part Chucky, part Pepé Le Pew.

The Tone
This is not a rom-com or the next Indiana Jones.
It’s crazy, gory, and absurd — in the spirit of Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Scary Movie, Kung Fury, Scream, and The Evil Dead.
If you don’t vibe with that world, this isn’t your gig (no hard feelings).
It’s ridiculous but grounded, full of heart, and never about “jokes for the sake of jokes.” The humor comes from characters, situations, and tone — not forced punchlines.

What We’re Looking For
A collaborative script doctor/analyst who can:
• Punch up comedic rhythm where needed
• Strengthen the main character arcs.
• Tighten pacing for a faster, more dynamic read
• Suggest or inspire ideas that elevate our creature villain/anti-hero
• Maintain balance between horror, absurdity, and emotional beats

What We’re Not Looking For
• Someone trying to rewrite or “take over” the script
• Lazy “awesome/terible” one-liner feedback
• Forced gags that don’t match tone
• Inexperienced or first-time writers
This script already has a strong foundation. We’re just seeking a surgical pass — tightening pacing, sharpening dialogue, and amplifying what’s already working.

Ideal Collaborator
You have:
• Experience in horror-comedy, dark comedy, or absurdist storytelling
• A solid grasp of pacing, tone, and genre balance
• Real screenwriting experience (bonus if your scripts have been produced)
• A sense of humor, creative honesty, and zero fear of giving tough feedback

Why This Project Matters
We’re developing Two Guys and a Raccoon with serious passion — a wild, campy ride that’s visually stylish, gory, and heartfelt. We’re currently raising financing and looking to attach recognizable talent. A credited script-doctor role on this film will be a solid career asset for whoever joins.

How to Apply
Please send:
• Your resume
• A brief cover letter
• 3–5 pages of your funniest, darkest, or most hard-hitting work — your “cream of the crop.” (We would like to see how you write – what sets above the rest)
Preference will be given to writers with:
• A writing or English degree
• Produced screenplays or credited film work

*If that sounds fair, let’s talk.
If not — no hard feelings. Move along, brave soul.
