My journey into instructional design started unexpectedly when I began homeschooling my child. What began as a simple way to support his learning quickly turned into a lifelong passion—and eventually into a career I never imagined.
When I started freelancing, designing educational materials for teachers, trainers, and content creators, I realized my role was not just about executing designs, but about crafting innovative learning experiences. I didn’t just follow instructions; I brought ideas to life. I found myself brainstorming creative concepts, developing content, and designing solutions that truly worked. This natural shift—from designer to instructional designer—made clients trust me to deliver ready-to-use, impactful educational content.
Along the way, I discovered Instructional Design as a formal discipline, and it felt like everything clicked. The theories, models, and strategies perfectly aligned with what I was already doing. Even though my academic background is in Agricultural Engineering, I knew I had found my true professional path.
To deepen my expertise, I enrolled in the **Instructional Design and Technology MicroMasters program at the University of Maryland. Although I’ve completed only two courses so far, the knowledge I’ve gained has fueled my commitment to keep learning and to pursue a full Master’s degree in Instructional Design in the future.
