A landscape designer uses their creativity and understanding of outside environments to create visually appealing spaces that surround residential and commercial structures. While a landscape designer might not have a license nor build the exterior space, they will suggest using specific plants, types of grasses, furniture, and other design elements suitable for the area in question.

A landscape architect will typically have a formal license and can address virtually any exterior area surrounding a residential or commercial building. A landscape designer, on the other hand, might not have a license and may focus more on the plants and grasses used in specific spaces surrounding buildings.

As landscape designers are typically experts in horticulture, they can provide their knowledge to help create well-designed outdoor spaces that are functional and visually appealing. They may install their own design or simply design the outdoor space for the owners to install themselves.
