AI-Assisted Grant Writer — Nonprofit & Healthcare — India Only — No Agencies
Worldwide
Somebody To Talk To (STTT) is a growing U.S. nonprofit that provides free virtual education and psycho-social skills development for people and families affected by rare and chronic diseases. We work with patients, hospitals, patient organizations, clinicians, and life-sciences companies. We are hiring a detail-oriented grant writer based in India to help prepare high-quality, customized grant and sponsorship applications. You will work directly with our founder and with an AI-assisted grant-writing workflow that already contains approved organization facts, program descriptions, impact information, and application tools. This is not a cold-outreach or lead-generation role. Our team will provide the funder, submission route, portal or email requirements, deadline, and research notes. Your job is to turn approved information into a complete, accurate, funder-specific draft and help move it through the submission checklist. What you will do • Review each funder's application requirements, portal fields, attachments, word/character limits, and deadline. • Use STTT-approved source materials and AI tools to draft tailored responses, letters of inquiry, proposals, budget narratives, and required attachments. • Adapt each application to the funder’s stated priorities without inventing facts, outcomes, relationships, or commitments. • Maintain a simple application checklist: requirements, draft status, missing items, questions, approvals needed, and submission readiness. • Flag unclear questions, missing information, conflicting requirements, or possible eligibility concerns early. • Revise drafts quickly based on feedback from the founder and STTT team. • Prepare portal-ready responses and supporting files for final review. Important boundaries • You may prepare drafts and submission materials, but you may not submit an application, send external messages, make commitments, change approved facts, or represent STTT externally without explicit written approval from David Gusick or the designated STTT owner. • Accuracy matters. Do not use AI to fabricate metrics, outcomes, partnerships, clinical claims, financial figures, or prior grants. • STTT serves patients and families. Protect confidential information and do not include identifiable patient information unless specifically authorized. Required qualifications • Demonstrated experience drafting grant applications, proposals, letters of inquiry, or funder reports in clear U.S. English. • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and ability to follow exact character and word limits. • Strong research and document-review skills; able to read funder guidelines carefully and turn them into a checklist. • Comfortable using ChatGPT or comparable AI tools responsibly for drafting, summarization, and quality control. • Able to verify AI output against source materials and identify unsupported statements. • Strong organization: can track several applications, deadlines, revisions, and missing items without losing details. • Responsive, reliable, and comfortable working directly with a U.S.-based founder. Preferred experience • Nonprofit, health, rare disease, patient advocacy, medical education, public health, or healthcare grant writing. • Experience with corporate giving, pharmaceutical education grants, foundations, or online grant portals. • Experience preparing budget narratives or assembling standard nonprofit attachments. What success looks like • Each assigned application has a complete requirement checklist, a clear status, and all open questions surfaced early. • Drafts are tailored, concise, accurate, and ready for leadership review—not generic boilerplate. • Every material statement is supported by approved STTT information or is clearly marked as needing confirmation. • Applications are ready before the deadline, with no unauthorized submission or external communication. Application instructions Please begin your proposal with the words “STTT Grant Writer.” Then answer these questions: 1. Share one brief example of a grant, proposal, LOI, or funder report you wrote. You may remove confidential names and amounts. 2. Which AI tools do you use in grant writing, and how do you verify that AI-generated content is accurate? 3. A funder has a 400-character mission question and asks for two measurable outcomes. What would you check before drafting your answer? 4. Confirm that you are located in India, can work at up to $10/hour, and can complete a short paid test assignment. Please do not send a generic proposal. Candidates who do not answer the four questions will not be considered. Engagement: hourly, part-time and ongoing. Start with a paid test assignment; expand to ongoing work if quality, accuracy, and reliability are strong. Estimated commitment: 10–20 hours per week initially, with the possibility of more as qualified application volume grows.
