Blockchain Architect - Build the architecture behind the next phase of Variational

We’re looking for a Blockchain Architect to help us build the next phase of Variational. Variational is building infrastructure for decentralized derivatives trading. The core protocol is already built, and we have an early version of Variational Pro running. We’re now moving into the next phase and looking for someone senior who can help shape the architecture and make the right technical decisions as we continue building. WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON Variational Pro - Trading and RFQ workflows - Real-time data and execution - Wallet and blockchain integrations - React / Next.js - Product architecture and protocol integration Protocol - Solidity and EVM architecture - Execution and settlement - Margin, collateral, liquidation, and risk - Smart contract design and security - On-chain and off-chain architecture Backend - Node.js and TypeScript - Go and distributed systems - APIs and WebSockets - Blockchain indexing and transaction processing - Event-driven services and data systems Infrastructure - PostgreSQL and Redis - Docker and Kubernetes - AWS - Blockchain nodes and RPC infrastructure - Monitoring, security, performance, and reliability You’ll help shape the architecture of the next phase across the Variational Pro, protocol, backend, and infrastructure. We’re looking for someone who can make strong technical decisions, solve complex problems, and stay hands-on through implementation. VAR TOKEN VAR is the native token of the Variational ecosystem. The role will also involve the technical infrastructure around VAR, including smart contracts, integrations, distribution and vesting, treasury systems, and the planned revenue-driven buyback and burn mechanism. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR - Strong Solidity and EVM experience - Experience designing production blockchain systems - Strong background in system architecture and distributed systems - Node.js / TypeScript experience - Go or Rust experience is a plus - Experience with DeFi, derivatives, exchanges, or trading systems is a plus - Strong understanding of smart contract security - Comfortable working with cloud and production infrastructure HOW WE WORK You’ll work directly with the founders and senior engineers. You’ll have a lot of ownership and a direct say in technical decisions. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being close to the code and taking responsibility for the systems they build. We’re open to full-time, part-time, or consulting arrangements.
