are looking for an experienced instructional designer, trades educator, carpenter instructor, or curriculum developer to create a complete 9-week Basic Carpentry and Applied Mathematics training program for adult Indigenous learners in British Columbia, Canada. The program runs 5 days per week for 9 weeks, for a total of 45 instructional days. We already have the overall curriculum and weekly learning outcomes. The selected freelancer will convert this curriculum into professional, practical, easy-to-follow daily presentations and student assignments. Main Deliverables The project requires: 45 PowerPoint presentations Each presentation approximately 15–20 slides 1 presentation for every instructional day Corresponding student worksheet/assignment for each day Practical carpentry activities for every week Applied mathematics integrated into carpentry activities Instructor notes and suggested teaching activities Weekly review and assessment activities Final-project preparation and assessment materials All files must be provided in editable format. Program Structure The program is 9 weeks × 5 days: Week 1 – Foundations, Workshop Safety & Basic Math Whole numbers, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, estimating, PPE, workshop safety, hand tools and tool identification. Week 2 – Measurement & Fractions Fractions, halves, quarters, eighths and sixteenths, tape-measure reading, lumber measurement, marking and basic cutting. Week 3 – Decimals, Metric & Imperial Measurement Decimals, inches, feet, millimetres, centimetres, measurement conversions, drills, impact drivers, screws and supervised cutting. Week 4 – Perimeter, Area & Material Calculations Perimeter, area, material quantities, estimating, basic drawings, cut lists, plywood and layout activities. Week 5 – Geometry & Carpentry Layout Angles, squares, rectangles, triangles, 45° and 90° angles, speed squares, checking square, basic joints and assemblies. Week 6 – Ratios, Spacing & Basic Framing Simple ratios, patterns, spacing, wall/floor framing, stud layout, openings, backing and sheathing. Week 7 – Applied Construction Math & Carpentry Skills Review of fractions, decimals, area and measurement through real construction problems; cutting, fitting, fastening, sanding and quality control. Week 8 – Final Project Planning Drawings, measurements, material lists, cut lists, cost calculations, project layout, safety planning and initial construction. Week 9 – Final Construction Project & Assessment Construction, measuring, cutting, assembly, finishing, inspection, correcting mistakes and individual practical assessment. Mathematics Level Mathematics should be based primarily on Grade 6–7 foundational skills, but the material must be written for adult learners. We do not want the presentations to look like elementary-school lessons. Math must be taught through practical carpentry examples, such as: Measuring lumber Reading a tape measure Calculating material quantities Fractions of an inch Perimeter and area Stud spacing Cutting measurements Material take-offs Basic project costing Checking dimensions and squareness Format for Each Daily Presentation Each daily presentation should generally include: Daily learning objectives Short review of the previous lesson Mathematics concept Real carpentry example Visual explanation Instructor demonstration Safety considerations Tools/materials required Step-by-step practical activity Student practice Math exercise Carpentry assignment Knowledge-check questions End-of-day review Preparation for the following day Target Learners The learners are adults, including Indigenous participants preparing for further carpentry education, apprenticeship pathways and employment. Content should therefore be: Practical, visual, respectful, culturally appropriate, easy to understand, hands-on and adult-focused. We prefer examples connected to real construction and community projects rather than heavily academic examples. Preferred Freelancer We are particularly interested in someone with experience in one or more of the following: Carpentry or construction education Skilled trades training Adult education Mathematics education Indigenous education/community training Curriculum development PowerPoint instructional design Canadian construction terminology Canadian measurement and safety practices Experience teaching foundational mathematics through skilled trades would be a major advantage. Quality Expectations We do not want 45 generic AI-generated presentations. The presentations must have a logical progression from Day 1 to Day 45 and include realistic carpentry activities, calculations, examples and assessments. The selected freelancer will receive our existing curriculum as the foundation for the project.
