AI & Full-Stack SaaS / Commerce Developer | React, Next.js, APIs & AI

We are looking for an experienced **AI and Full-Stack SaaS / Commerce Developer** to potentially become part of the technical team behind a new proprietary software project. We already have an experienced full-stack developer who knows our existing businesses and systems. We are now looking to expand that capability as we prepare for a significantly larger **SaaS, commerce and AI development project**. The underlying concept is commercially sensitive, so detailed functionality will only be disclosed to shortlisted candidates following appropriate **NDA and IP agreements**. ## Immediate Work Available There is an opportunity to **start working with us immediately**, before development of the larger platform begins. We want to be transparent that this initial work is **more junior in nature than the longer-term position we are recruiting for**. We are not expecting a senior SaaS or AI engineer to consider HTML template development their principal skill. However, for somebody who is happy to work across different levels of development, we see a considerable advantage in starting together this way. Our design team is currently redesigning **six existing company websites in Figma**. Working alongside our existing full-stack developer, the immediate requirements include: - Converting approved **Figma designs into clean, responsive HTML5/CSS templates** - Implementing designs using the latest appropriate version of **Bootstrap** - Ensuring templates work correctly across desktop, tablet and mobile - Supporting implementation within existing **PHP/MySQL websites** - Working with an existing **WordPress/WooCommerce** commerce website - Extracting existing product information and data from WordPress/WooCommerce - Structuring and exporting data where required, initially potentially through **Excel/CSV/XML or appropriate feeds** - Helping review and organise existing product and pricing information - Supporting our existing developer with practical website integration work - Gradually becoming familiar with our existing systems, databases and technology **HTML template development is therefore an advantage, not an essential requirement for the longer-term role.** We fully appreciate that some of this work would normally sit with a more junior front-end developer. The reason we are offering it as part of this opportunity is that we would rather find an experienced developer who is prepared to **get involved from the beginning**, work alongside our existing developer and understand how our businesses, websites, data and current systems operate before the larger development begins. For the right person, this provides paid work immediately and an opportunity to become embedded in the project rather than joining later with no understanding of the existing environment. If you are principally a senior SaaS/AI developer and would prefer not to undertake this type of work, **that does not exclude you from consideration**. However, candidates who are happy to help across both levels will naturally have the opportunity to start working with us sooner. ## The Longer-Term Requirement The principal role we are recruiting for is considerably broader. We are looking for strong technical capability across **SaaS, commerce and AI development**, including experience in areas such as: - React / Next.js - JavaScript / TypeScript - SaaS application development - PostgreSQL and relational database architecture - REST APIs and third-party integrations - Authentication, permissions and application security - Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud infrastructure - Git and professional development workflows - Scalable production application development ### Commerce **Commerce experience is essential to the direction of the project.** We are particularly interested in developers who have built functionality involving: - Products and services - Product and pricing databases - Configurable or more complex pricing logic - Customer accounts - Quotations - Orders - Shopping basket / checkout processes - Stripe or other payment gateway integrations - Transactional workflows - Third-party commerce integrations We are looking for experience beyond simply installing or configuring an existing e-commerce package. If you have personally designed or developed the underlying logic behind a commerce or transactional application, we would particularly like to hear about it. ## AI Development AI will form another important part of the longer-term project. Relevant experience may include: - LLM integration - RAG and knowledge retrieval - AI agents - Structured and unstructured data - Tool / function calling - AI integration with APIs and software applications - Vector databases and embeddings - Workflow automation - AI security and permissions - Evaluation, monitoring and guardrails - Production deployment of AI functionality - Microsoft/Azure AI technologies - OpenAI, Anthropic/Claude or other major AI technologies We are **not simply looking for someone to build a chatbot**. We are interested in developers who understand how AI can form part of a larger, secure production software application. We also do not want the core product unnecessarily dependent upon one AI model, provider or automation platform. ## Who We Are Looking For We don't expect one person to be the world's leading specialist in every area above. The ideal candidate is someone with **strong full-stack foundations**, genuine SaaS and commerce experience, and meaningful exposure to modern AI development. Just as importantly, we want someone who can work collaboratively with our existing developer and is prepared to contribute ideas rather than simply follow instructions. We want developers who will tell us when they believe there is a better technical approach. For the right person, this is potentially an opportunity to become involved **at the beginning of the journey**, rather than being brought in once all the important architectural decisions have already been made. ## Working Arrangement The majority of development can be undertaken remotely. We have **UK and Irish businesses**, and the ability to occasionally meet in **London or Dublin** would be advantageous, although it is not essential. Shortlisted candidates may initially be invited to a **Microsoft Teams call with our existing full-stack developer** to discuss their technical background and the immediate work. For the right person, we are interested in establishing a **long-term working relationship** as the project and technical team develop. ## Confidentiality, Ownership & IP The larger project is proprietary and commercially sensitive. Before the detailed concept is disclosed, shortlisted developers will be required to enter into appropriate **NDA, confidentiality and IP arrangements**. Ownership and control of bespoke development will need to be clearly established from the outset. ## When Applying Please provide: 1. A brief overview of your full-stack and SaaS development experience. 2. Examples of SaaS applications you have personally helped develop. 3. An example of a **commerce or transactional application** you have developed, particularly involving products, pricing, quotations, orders or payments. 4. Your experience with React, Next.js and TypeScript. 5. Your PostgreSQL/database and API development experience. 6. Your practical AI development experience, particularly production systems. 7. Any experience with RAG, AI agents and tool/function calling. 8. Your Microsoft Azure experience, if applicable. 9. Whether you are comfortable undertaking the **immediate Figma to HTML5/CSS/Bootstrap work** alongside our existing developer. 10. Your PHP/MySQL and WordPress/WooCommerce experience. 11. Your hourly and/or day rate. 12. Your current availability and location. 13. Whether occasional meetings in **London or Dublin** would be possible.
