In-Kind Donation Lead Generation & Outreach Specialist for Nonprofit

Give Me Shelter California (GMSC) Project Type: Freelance / Part-Time Location: Remote Organization: Give Me Shelter California, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Focus Area: Southern Nevada / Las Vegas, with future California expansion About Give Me Shelter California Give Me Shelter California (GMSC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Our Shower & Shelter Program provides access to free mobile showers, essential hygiene supplies, mail services, outreach, resource navigation, and connections to housing, employment, and community resources. Our mission is simple: We go where the need is. We are currently building our network of community and corporate partners and are seeking a motivated freelancer to help us secure in-kind donations, donated products, services, supplies, sponsorships, and corporate partnerships. What We Need We are looking for someone who can actively research and identify companies, organizations, foundations, hotels, casinos, retailers, manufacturers, distributors, churches, businesses, and community organizations that may be willing to provide free products, supplies, services, or other in-kind support to GMSC. This is more than a research project. We want someone who can help us identify opportunities, find the correct contact person, prepare outreach, submit requests, track responses, and help move potential donors toward an actual donation or partnership. Primary Responsibilities Research and identify potential in-kind donors, including: Hotels and resorts Casinos Retail stores Grocery stores Pharmacies Beauty and personal-care companies Clothing companies Manufacturers Wholesalers and distributors Cleaning-supply companies Water companies Transportation companies Automotive companies Laundromats Churches and faith-based organizations Corporations with employee volunteer programs Local businesses Foundations and corporate giving programs Companies with surplus or excess inventory Organizations offering free nonprofit services Products & Services We Are Seeking Examples include: Hygiene Products Soap Shampoo Conditioner Deodorant Toothpaste Toothbrushes Lotion Razors Shaving products Feminine hygiene products Hair-care products Sunscreen Shower Program Supplies New towels Washcloths Laundry detergent Cleaning supplies Paper products Bottled water Storage containers Trash bags Clothing New socks New underwear T-shirts Pants Jackets Shoes Backpacks Mobile Unit & Operations Fuel cards Research Requirements: For each potential donor, provide: Company/organization name Website Location Type of donation they may provide Donation or community-giving program Contact person's name, when available Contact title Email address Phone number Donation-request webpage or application Eligibility requirements Application deadline, if applicable Recommended approach Date contacted Response Follow-up date Status We want verified information, not copied lists of random companies. Outreach Responsibilities Sending initial outreach emails Submitting nonprofit donation requests Contacting corporate community-relations departments Following up with potential donors Communicating with businesses Scheduling calls or meetings Preparing customized donation requests Maintaining a donor/outreach spreadsheet Tracking every contact and response Identifying new opportunities based on responses Ideal Freelancer We are looking for someone who is: Experienced in nonprofit fundraising Experienced with corporate donations Experienced in in-kind fundraising Strong at online research Comfortable contacting businesses Excellent at email communication Organized and persistent Able to find the correct decision-maker Experienced with donor databases or spreadsheets Able to distinguish legitimate opportunities from outdated or irrelevant listings Comfortable making follow-up calls when appropriate Experience working with homeless-service organizations, social-service nonprofits, community organizations, hotels, casinos, or corporate philanthropy programs is a major plus. Important We are not looking for someone who will simply give us a list of 100 companies. We need someone who can help us turn research into real donation opportunities and relationships. Our goal is to build a sustainable network of businesses and organizations willing to support GMSC with donated products, services, volunteers, and resources. Initial Project Goal For the initial project, we would like the freelancer to: Identify at least 50 qualified in-kind donation prospects Prioritize the strongest opportunities Research the appropriate contact/application process Prepare customized outreach Submit or send approved requests Track all outreach Follow up with prospects Report results weekly Identify additional prospects based on responses Deliverables At the end of the initial project, GMSC should receive: 1. Donor Prospect Database A clean, organized spreadsheet containing verified donor prospects and contact information. 2. Donation Opportunity List Specific products/services each prospect may be able to donate. 3. Outreach Tracker Complete record of emails, calls, applications, responses and follow-ups. 4. Customized Requests Professional donation-request messages tailored to different types of businesses. 5. Weekly Progress Report Number of businesses researched, contacted, followed up with, responses received, opportunities developed, and next steps. Compensation Hourly or project-based proposals are welcome.
