We're seeking a Physician Advisor (Ophthalmology) — Australia to help build and refine our clinician engagement approach for a clinical trial in thyroid eye disease (TED), also known as Graves' orbitopathy or Graves' ophthalmopathy. The role is about making sure Australian clinicians managing TED — across ophthalmology and endocrinology — know the trial exists, understand the eligibility criteria, and can identify patients for whom it may be appropriate. You'll be working peer-to-peer with specialists across the public and private systems. ## Key responsibilities * Build out our clinician network across ophthalmology — particularly oculoplastic and orbital subspecialists — and endocrinology, spanning public hospital eye and endocrine outpatient departments, private specialist rooms, and the orthoptists and endocrine nurse specialists who work alongside them. * Raise clinician awareness and understanding of the trial, measured by depth of engagement, breadth of network reach, and quality of clinical discussion. * Communicate trial rationale and eligibility criteria clearly and accurately to specialist colleagues, including how TED patients typically move between endocrinology and ophthalmology as the disease progresses. * Provide clinical insight and feedback that improves how we design and run outreach, including where our eligibility criteria create avoidable friction for referring clinicians. * Maintain structured weekly communication with the Leapcure team on progress, obstacles, and approach. ## What we're looking for * MBBS or MD with FRANZCO and current AHPRA specialist registration in ophthalmology, ideally with subspecialty training or interest in oculoplastic/orbital surgery. We'll also consider ophthalmology advanced trainees, and endocrinologists (FRACP) with substantial thyroid eye disease/Graves' orbitopathy experience. * Clinical familiarity with TED and the Australian referral pathways around it — including how public outpatient clinics and private rooms differ in practice, and how care is coordinated between endocrinology and ophthalmology. * Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to hold a substantive clinical conversation with a peer rather than deliver a pitch. * Established professional credibility and comfort building relationships across institutions. * Sound organisational and time-management skills; able to run several workstreams independently. * A problem-solving disposition — able to spot where outreach is failing and propose something better. * Genuine interest in clinical research and in improving trial access for patients. * Fluency in English. Additional languages are a plus. ## Engagement details This is an independent contractor engagement for 2 to 5 hours per week, and it is 100% remote. Compensation is fixed per hour and is not contingent on the number of patients referred or enrolled.
