Paid trial: break our search engine and our Gmail add-in

We are Intutiv, and we build two things. We are hiring two testers to cover both of them — we are saying that at the top because we do not want anyone six weeks from now saying "you hired me for the add-in, now you're asking about web search." WHAT YOU WOULD BE TESTING 1. INTUTIV WEB SEARCH — intutiv.ai A search engine that answers the question directly, with its sources, instead of handing you ten links. It answers as you type, before you press Enter. It covers many languages and takes voice input, and it runs on phones as well as desktop. 2. INTUTIV FOR GMAIL — a Chrome extension Gives Gmail a better search: grouped results, search inside your attachments, amounts and meeting invites pulled out of your mail. Everything runs on the user's own machine; nothing leaves it. This one goes on the Chrome Web Store shortly. They are one product line and you would work across both. The web side is continuous; the add-in has a release coming. Different environments, different failure modes, and we want the same pair of eyes on each so nothing falls between them. WHAT IS ALREADY AUTOMATED — so you don't repeat it The add-in has 182 end-to-end checks, over 2,400 unit assertions and 22 numbered test cases, all green on the current build. The search side has its own benchmarks for answer accuracy. That green is also the problem. Every one of the add-in's checks runs against a MOCK of Gmail, not Gmail. The two worst bugs we shipped this month lived exactly in that gap — one sliced every dropdown menu in half at the width of a normal laptop screen, for eight days, while every test passed. We are not asking you to re-run our suites. We are asking you to go where they cannot — and we want you comfortable extending or writing automated checks yourself where it makes sense, not just clicking through by hand. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Someone who argues with a product instead of reading its checklist. Someone who cannot leave a thing alone once it looks slightly wrong. We want manual testing, but we also want you to automate what's repeatable AND stay in the loop as a human — judgment on what a test can't tell you is half the job. Being a freelancer with other clients is completely fine. Treating this as the thing you get to last is not, and we will ask about your other commitments in the first reply. HOW WE HIRE — no interview first A paid trial task: $100. We send you both products and a one-page brief. You test. You send back what you found and how you went about it. Take the time you think it deserves — you are paid whatever you find, including nothing. Two people do this in the same week, independently, and we expect to keep both. Ongoing work after that is around $10 an hour, and we would rather agree a steady weekly commitment than call you when something breaks. TO APPLY — submit a proposal with two things 1. A TEST PLAN, roughly half a page, COVERING BOTH PRODUCTS. Assume a search engine used on any device, and a Chrome extension that modifies Gmail and is about to ship to strangers. Across which environments would you test them so that nothing surprises us after release? Things we would expect you to weigh: browsers and their versions, operating systems, screen sizes and zoom levels, phones as well as desktops, slow and interrupted networks, other languages, signed in versus signed out, Gmail's own variants and settings, mailbox sizes, fresh installs versus upgrades, and offline. We do not want the full matrix. We want your ORDER — what you would test first, what you would leave until last, and WHY. The reasoning is the part we are reading. If you think we have the wrong environments in mind, say so; that answer interests us most of all. 2. A BUG YOU COULD NOT LET GO OF. The worst one you ever found. How you found it, what made you keep pulling at it when it would have been reasonable to stop, and how long it took. If somebody told you it was not a real bug and you turned out to be right, that is the story we want. Short answers are fine. Nothing formatted, no certifications needed.
