Summary

JSR Strategies is a growing U.S.-based marketing and communications agency looking for a highly reliable, detail-oriented finance professional to own our recurring bookkeeping, billing and financial administration. This is not a CFO or financial strategy role. We already have established systems for project budgets, client profitability, labor/utilization and management reporting. What we need is someone who can make the underlying financial operations accurate, organized and dependable — without the CEO having to constantly manage or check the process. What you'll own: - QuickBooks Online bookkeeping - Bank and credit card reconciliations - Accurate transaction categorization - Receipt/documentation management and follow-up - Monthly close and standard QBO reporting - Client invoicing — approximately 15 invoices/month, many recurring retainers - Accounts receivable tracking and follow-up - Cross-checking billing status and communicating relevant updates internally - Maintaining sales commission tracking and reconciling commissions against invoices/payments - Reconciling Stripe subscription activity with QuickBooks as our new SaaS offering grows - Coordinating directly with our U.S. CPA when accounting questions arise - Maintaining clear written processes - Helping identify duplicate/unnecessary software subscriptions and straightforward expense-saving opportunities - 30-minute monthly financial review with the CEO - Proactively flagging exceptions, missing information or anything that doesn't look right We operate on a cash basis for tax purposes, while our internal management reporting also needs to understand when revenue was earned and the corresponding work occurred. You should understand both cash and accrual concepts and be comfortable coordinating with our CPA about appropriate accounting treatment. We are beginning to sell a SaaS product through Stripe. This is currently a small portion of the business but could eventually become a separate entity. Who we're looking for We want someone who is unusually good at making financial operations boring, accurate and dependable. You should have: - Strong QuickBooks Online experience; ProAdvisor certification preferred - Experience with U.S.-based service businesses - Excellent reconciliation skills - Experience with invoicing and AR - Strong understanding of cash vs. accrual accounting - Experience with month-end close - Strong written English and communication - Ability to work independently and ask smart questions - Stripe/subscription reconciliation experience preferred - Commission tracking experience preferred - Comfort with Slack, spreadsheets and AI/automation AI experience matters to us We use Claude extensively and have already built Claude Projects and AI-supported workflows into our operations. We're not looking for someone who merely says they're "good with AI." We're interested in people who have actually used AI to make a business process more efficient. Please answer these questions 1. Tell me about one U.S.-based service business whose QuickBooks/bookkeeping you personally managed. What did you own? 2. Walk me through your month-end close. What do you personally verify before telling a client the month is closed? 3. Tell me about an accounting or bookkeeping error you discovered that wasn't obvious. How did you find it? 4. Tell me about a Claude Project or comparable AI workflow you have actually built or used to improve a real business process. What went into it, what came out and how was it used? 5. Have you reconciled Stripe subscription activity into QuickBooks? If yes, briefly describe what you did. 6. Have you maintained sales commission calculations? How did you verify their accuracy? 7. What hours are you available to overlap with Pacific Time? Please begin your application with the word August so we know you've read the posting.
