Senior SQL / MySQL DBA & Developer (Hyderabad)

Exp: 8+ Yrs. Location: Hyderabad Natsoft is seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL / MySQL DBA & Developer to lead MySQL upgrades, performance tuning, and database modernization activities for the NOVUS360 platform. The role demands deep expertise in MySQL internals, productionize PostgreSQL database platform, high availability architecture, performance engineering, migration execution, and advanced SQL development. Role Overview: You will be responsible for leading the MySQL 5.7 → MySQL 8.0 upgrade program, optimizing database objects, ensuring high availability, improving performance, collaborating with developers, and supporting modernization initiatives. This is a hands-on technical role involving deep diagnostics, tuning, and production-grade implementation. Key Responsibilities: MySQL Upgrade & Migration Leadership • Lead, plan, and execute major version upgrades (MySQL 5.7 → 8.0) across all environments with minimal downtime and risk. • Perform pre-upgrade checks using MySQL Upgrade Checker and remediate compatibility gaps. • Validate schema, data, stored procedures, and triggers post-migration for functional and performance parity. • Establish, capture, and compare pre- and post-migration performance benchmarks to ensure system improvement. • Drive cross-platform or infrastructure migrations as required. 2. High Availability & Disaster Recovery • Configure and manage HA/DR solutions including replication, clustering, backup, and recovery frameworks. • Work with technologies such as Group Replication, InnoDB Cluster, and Galera. • Ensure business continuity through robust failover design and DR drills. 3. Performance Engineering & Optimization • Monitor database health, performance, and capacity using native tools (Performance Schema, sys schema, Slow Query Log) and external platforms (PMM, Prometheus/Grafana). • Perform deep-dive query analysis, execution plan review, and SQL optimization to improve application responsiveness. • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks including poor indexing, inefficient queries, suboptimal plans, and resource contention. • Tune MySQL server configuration (buffer pools, thread management, connection pool configs, memory parameters). 4. Deadlock & Concurrency Management • Investigate, analyse, and permanently resolve deadlock issues. • Recommend data segmentation, sharding, partitioning, or schema redesign to prevent recurring issues. 5. Advanced SQL & Stored Procedure Development • Write, review, and optimize complex stored procedures, functions, and triggers. • Ensure high performing SQL usage and guide application teams on interaction best practices. • Work with developers to optimize LINQ/ORM-translated queries for the platform. 6. Collaboration & Documentation • Work closely with API, infra, and application teams to ensure seamless DB compatibility with modernization components. • Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge transfer artifacts for NOVUS360 teams. • Participate in CI/CD, automated validation, and release readiness activities. Required Skills: • 10+ years of progressive experience in database administration and development, with 5+ years dedicated to MySQL. • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, MySQL database internals, and storage engines (especially InnoDB). • Proven track record in large-scale MySQL upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning. • Hands-on experience with HA/DR technologies such as Group Replication, InnoDB Cluster, Galera. • Strong knowledge of MySQL diagnostics using Performance Schema, sys schema, Slow Query Log. • Expertise in indexing strategy, partitioning, data segmentation, and archival. • Understanding of LINQ/ORM query translation and optimization. • Exposure to cloud environments (AWS/RDS preferred). • Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps pipeline integrations, and monitoring tools. • Strong healthcare domain knowledge is required—preferably in areas such as member enrolment, claims processing, eligibility workflows, regulatory compliance (HIPAA), and healthcare data validation. Soft Skills: • Strong analytical and debugging mindset. • Excellent communication for cross-functional coordination. • Ability to lead technical conversations and provide architectural guidance.
