Senior Shopify Developer Needed — Custom Product Configurators, Dynamic Pricing & Theme Completion We are looking for an experienced **Shopify developer to finish and improve our custom printing website, Stickersandmore.net**. This is **not a basic Shopify theme setup** and we are not looking for someone who primarily installs apps and modifies templates. We need a developer who is comfortable building **custom Shopify product-ordering experiences**, including complex product configuration, dynamic pricing, artwork uploads, cart/order data, metafields/metaobjects, and custom functionality where Shopify's standard product/variant system is not sufficient. ## About Our Business Stickers and More is a custom printing company offering: * Custom vinyl stickers * Custom labels * Screen-printed apparel * Embroidered apparel and hats * Banners and signs * Business printing * Promotional products We already have a Shopify theme and portions of the custom ordering system built. We need an experienced developer to **finish, improve, integrate, and productionize the website**. A detailed technical requirements document will be provided to qualified candidates. ## Most Important Project: Custom Apparel Ordering The largest development requirement is our **custom apparel configurator**. A customer should be able to select a garment, choose a garment color, enter quantities across multiple sizes, select decoration options, choose print locations and number of ink colors, upload artwork, and see the appropriate calculated price. For example: Gildan 5000 T-Shirt Color: Black S — 10 M — 25 L — 30 XL — 20 2XL — 10 3XL — 5 **Total quantity: 100 shirts** Screen Printing: Front — 2 colors Back — 1 color The pricing system must recognize this as a **100-piece order**, apply the appropriate quantity tier, account for extended-size upcharges and decoration costs, and send the complete configuration into Shopify. ### Critical Architecture Requirement We specifically **do NOT want every combination created as a Shopify variant**. We do not want combinations such as: Black / XL / Front 2 Color / Back 1 Color multiplied across every garment color, size, decoration method, print location, ink count, quantity, etc. The **garment/style should be treated as the core product**, while the customer's size breakdown and decoration selections should be treated as the configuration of that product/order. Shopify must still receive the correct validated price and complete production information. If your proposed solution is simply to generate hundreds or thousands of Shopify variants for these combinations, this project is probably not a good fit. ## Dynamic Pricing The developer needs experience designing maintainable pricing systems. Pricing may depend on: * Aggregate quantity * Product/garment * Size * Extended sizes * Decoration method * Number of print locations * Number of ink colors per location * Product options * Finishing * Setup charges * Product-specific pricing overrides Pricing should be manageable without having to edit Liquid or JavaScript every time we change a price. Customer-facing JavaScript can calculate/display pricing, but we do not want an architecture where a browser-submitted price is blindly trusted by Shopify. We want the developer to recommend an appropriate Shopify-supported method for validating/enforcing the final price. ## Existing Custom Stickers & Labels **Our Custom Stickers configurator is already built.** We are not looking to rebuild it from scratch. The developer will need to review it, QA it, make sure it works correctly with the finished theme, and make targeted fixes if necessary. **Our Custom Labels configurator was also intended to already be completed.** The developer should first audit the existing implementation and identify what is complete, partially complete, or broken. The objective for both systems is: **Preserve → Verify → QA → Integrate** Do not include a complete sticker or label configurator rebuild in your proposal unless you identify a legitimate technical reason why the existing implementation cannot be retained. ## Artwork Upload System Custom products need an artwork workflow supporting: * Upload artwork now * Send artwork later * Request design/artwork assistance * Multiple files where appropriate * Mobile uploads * Upload progress and error handling * Durable storage * Artwork association with the Shopify cart/order Common artwork formats include AI, EPS, PDF, PSD, SVG, PNG, JPG/JPEG and ZIP. Our production staff must be able to easily locate the artwork associated with an order. ## Shopify Order Data The completed system must create orders that make sense to our production staff. For an apparel order, we should be able to clearly see information such as: Product/style Garment color Total quantity Size breakdown Decoration method Print locations Ink/color count by location Artwork Customer instructions Applicable options Final price Our staff should **not have to decode complicated variant names or reconstruct one production job from numerous unrelated Shopify line items**. ## Additional Development The project will also include finishing or improving: * Shopify theme * Homepage * Navigation / mega menu * Collection pages * Apparel collections * Banner/sign ordering * Business printing products * Promotional product/SAGE workflow * Request-a-Quote system * Upload Artwork page * Mobile ordering experience * SEO and redirects * Performance * Product-page UX * Shopify Theme Editor controls The existing design direction should generally be preserved and improved rather than unnecessarily replaced. ## Technical Experience We're Looking For Strong experience with **Shopify Online Store 2.0** is required. You should be comfortable working with: * Shopify Liquid * JavaScript * Shopify AJAX Cart / Cart API * Shopify products and variants * Metafields * Metaobjects * JSON templates * Sections and blocks * Line-item properties * Shopify Functions and/or appropriate Shopify extensibility * Shopify Admin/API integrations where necessary * Custom product configurators * Dynamic pricing * File uploads/storage * Mobile-first interfaces * Git/source control If a custom Shopify app or external service is necessary, we are open to it, but it must be clearly justified. We want to minimize unnecessary monthly apps and avoid vendor lock-in. ## Maintainability Is Important We have many products and will continue adding more. We do not want to hire a developer every time we add another T-shirt, hoodie, hat or similar product. The finished system should use reusable configuration/data structures so our staff can manage products, pricing, available options, sizes, colors, quantity breaks and related settings without modifying source code whenever reasonably possible. ## Before Development Begins The selected developer will be expected to review our existing Shopify store and technical requirements and provide a proposed architecture covering: 1. Product/variant strategy 2. Metafield/metaobject structure 3. Apparel configuration architecture 4. Pricing architecture 5. Server-side price validation/enforcement 6. Size-matrix implementation 7. Artwork upload/storage 8. Cart and Shopify order-data structure 9. Staff/Admin management 10. Apps or external services required 11. Monthly costs, if any 12. Known Shopify limitations or tradeoffs We want to agree on the architecture **before significant development begins**. ## Who We're Looking For We would prefer an individual senior developer or small team with demonstrated experience building **complex Shopify configurators or custom-product ordering systems**.
