Technical Soft Goods Designer – Factory Tech Pack for Modular Utility Carry Strap System
Worldwide
OVERVIEW We are seeking an experienced Technical Soft Goods / Cut-and-Sew Designer to develop a production-ready factory tech pack and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) documentation for a premium, modular utility carry strap and suspension harness system. This project sits at the intersection of technical outdoor carry, everyday carry (EDC), and modular lifestyle accessories. We do not need fashion concept sketches; we require an expert who understands structural pattern drafting, load-bearing webbing construction, industrial sewing sequences, and mechanical hardware integration. You will translate our internal design sketches, interface constraints, and ergonomic requirements into 2D manufacturing control prints, stitch engineering schedules, and an itemized Bill of Materials (BOM) ready for direct handoff to overseas OEM/ODM cut-and-sew partners. CORE ENGINEERING CHALLENGES • High-Tensile Webbing Architecture: Material specs covering tensile strength, weave construction (herringbone, tubular, jacquard), thickness/weight metrics, multi-layer transitions, and clean ultrasonic/heat-sealed edge terminations. • Modular Attachment Zones: Precision layout, alignment tolerances, and load-distribution modeling for modular gear-attachment zones, structural anchor ladders, and multi-point utility loops—engineered to prevent roll or edge-curl under dynamic tension. • Hardware & Adjustment Geometry: Integrating mechanical closures, quick-release hardware (e.g., Fidlock, Duraflex, custom metal clasps), and low-profile retention keepers engineered to prevent strap slip, binding, or contact abrasion. • End-Termination Assemblies: Developing structural anchor tabs, folded reinforcement transitions, and reinforced loop geometries to mate securely with external hardware systems. REQUIRED FACTORY DELIVERABLES • 1:1 Flat Patterns & Blueprints: Full-scale 2D vector pattern pieces with notches, fold lines, seam allowances, adjustment ranges, and critical cross-sections with manufacturing tolerances (±1" mm"). • Stitch Engineering Schedules: Exact stitch classification callouts (box-X, high-density bar-tack patterns, folded hems), SPI (stitches per inch), thread compositions/weights (bonded nylon/poly), and backtack protocols. • Itemized BOM: Specifications for all webbings, reinforcement substrates, lining layers, standardized Pantone (PMS/TCX) indexing, and a hardware schedule detailing alloys/polymers (aluminum, zinc, POM/acetal), finishes, and Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS) targets. • Production Tech Pack Package: Multi-page, clean vector PDF optimized for factory RFQ bidding, plus organized native source vector files (AI / CAD / DXF). TERMS & QUALIFICATIONS • Project Budget & Milestones: We have established a $1,500 fixed-price budget for the core tech pack package across 3 structured milestones (Dielines & Architecture 30% / Stitch Engineering & Draft BOM 40% / Final Production Tech Pack & Native Vector Files 30%). • IP Ownership: 100% Work-for-Hire with complete IP and native file transfer upon final payment. • Confidentiality: Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and Master Services Agreement (MSA) required prior to receiving internal design sketches, dimensional criteria, and proprietary assets.
