Accounting Manager for US Firm (Xero + QBO, CFO work)

We are small, we move quickly, and we care a lot about how the work looks and feels to the client. You will run day to day accounting operations across our client roster and act as the accounting brain of the firm. This is an accounting and CFO role, not a tax role. Our tax work is handled by a separate team, so you will not be preparing or reviewing returns. If your strength is books, close, reporting and forecasting, this is built for you. What you will do - Own monthly bookkeeping and month end close across the client roster in Xero and QuickBooks Online - Prepare monthly financial reports for clients, including written notes and commentary that a non accountant can actually understand - Own new client onboarding, including designing and building each client's chart of accounts - Build and maintain client forecasts, including 13 week rolling cash forecasts and forward looking projections - Handle client requests and accounting questions directly, in writing and on calls - Build and maintain a firm wide health check dashboard so we always know the status of every engagement - Find and fix operational inefficiencies, then document the process so it holds - Lead and develop additional accounting team members as we grow What we are looking for - Qualified accountant (CPA preferred). - 5+ years running full cycle bookkeeping and month end close for - multiple clients at once - Strong hands on Xero and QuickBooks Online. Both, not one - Real experience building cash forecasts and financial models, not just reporting on the past - Comfortable talking to founders directly and explaining numbers in plain English - Excellent written English - Reliable overlap with US Eastern business hours, and availability for client calls in that window - Organised enough to build systems, documentation and SOPs without being asked twice Nice to have - Experience with online businesses, agencies, creators or e-commerce - Familiarity with Gusto, Asana, HubSpot, Ignition or Assembly - Experience managing or training junior accounting staff How to work with us - You provide your own computer and internet.
