Core Responsibilities Technical Accounting Leadership and Quality Assurance (40%) • Review and approve all financial statements before client delivery; ensure GAAP compliance and accuracy • Provide final sign-off on complex journal entries, high-risk reconciliations, and material variances • Research and resolve complex technical accounting issues; interpret standards (ASC 606, lease accounting, etc.) • Establish and enforce reconciliation standards, review protocols, and quality control procedures across the team • Ensure all client close deadlines are met; escalate close risks and coordinate cross-functional inputs • Present complex financial information to clients, including variance analysis, trends, and recommendations People Management and Team Development (25%) • Manage a team of 3 to 7 Staff and Senior Staff Accountants (direct reports and dotted-line) • Conduct performance reviews, deliver feedback, and manage underperformance through coaching and structured improvement plans • Plan and allocate workload across team members based on capacity, skill level, and client complexity • Lead hiring input for accounting team positions; participate in interviews and onboarding • Develop team members through coaching, training programs, and career development planning • Establish team communication norms and maintain culture in a remote, distributed environment Client Relationship Management (20%) • Serve as the strategic advisor and escalation point for 8 to 15 client relationships • Maintain direct relationships with 2 to 4 strategic or complex client accounts • Manage client expectations; de-escalate conflicts and handle sensitive conversations • Oversee client onboarding process; conduct kickoff meetings and 30/60/90-day check-ins • Negotiate SOWs and manage scope expansion discussions; ensure engagement profitability • Identify growth and upsell opportunities within existing client accounts Strategic and Operational Leadership (15%) • Drive process improvement initiatives across the accounting function • Implement best practices and standardized workflows across client engagements • Evaluate and implement new software, integrations, and technology solutions • Develop and maintain SOPs, documentation standards, and training materials • Collaborate cross-functionally with CFO advisory, HR, and client success teams • Manage team to portfolio-level budget; forecast resource needs and ensure firm profitability • Represent TCRH professionally to clients, partners, and in business development activities Technical Qualifications • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience including 3+ years in a management or supervisory capacity • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP; ability to research and resolve complex technical accounting issues • Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO ProAdvisor certified) • Experience overseeing multi-entity consolidations, complex revenue recognition, and project accounting • Advanced Excel/Sheets skills including complex modeling and firm-wide reporting solutions. Proficiency in productivity software (i.e. monday.com, Clickup, Asana, Zoho Projects) • Experience managing client portfolios in a multi-client, professional services environment • Strong knowledge of internal controls, compliance, and audit liaison responsibilities • Experience with project management tools (Monday.com, Zoho Projects, or similar) for team oversight • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA or Master's degree preferred Core Competencies • Proven people leadership: coaches, develops, and holds team members accountable • Strategic thinker who identifies opportunities and risks before they materialize • Excellent client-facing presence: manages expectations, de-escalates issues, advises at the executive level • Strong judgment on materiality, risk, and complex accounting decisions • Manages competing priorities across a portfolio without dropping balls • Highly responsive to client communications (within 2 hours) and models the communication standards expected of the team • Drives initiatives and owns outcomes for the entire accounting function • Comfortable making complex decisions with incomplete information; escalates appropriately to leadership Performance Metrics Consultants in this role are evaluated against the following key performance indicators: • Team achieves 95%+ on-time close completion across all managed clients • Financial statements delivered with fewer than 2 review notes per engagement per month • Client NPS of 9+ across managed portfolio • Team utilization maintained within target ranges (Staff 75-85%, Senior 70-80%) • All direct reports receive quarterly performance feedback and annual reviews on schedule • 2+ firm-level process improvements implemented per quarter • Portfolio-level budget variance within 5% • 100% SOP documentation for all managed client workflows • Team retention: maintain team stability with proactive talent development Growth and Development TCRH invests in the professional growth of every team member, including fractional consultants.
