# Senior Full-Stack Engineer — Java & Angular | Cybersecurity SaaS Platform ## About the Role We are seeking an experienced **Senior Full-Stack Engineer** to support the long-term development and continued modernization of an established cybersecurity SaaS platform. The ideal candidate must be highly proficient in **Java backend development and Angular frontend development**, with particularly strong experience improving backend architecture, application performance, scalability, security, and code quality. This is not a short-term website development project. We are looking for an engineer who can understand an existing enterprise application, make thoughtful architectural recommendations, implement production-quality improvements, and become a reliable long-term contributor to the platform. ## Primary Responsibilities * Review and understand the platform’s existing application architecture and codebase. * Identify backend architectural limitations, technical debt, performance concerns, and scalability risks. * Design and implement improvements to the Java backend architecture. * Develop, maintain, and optimize RESTful APIs and application services. * Improve application performance, reliability, logging, monitoring, and error handling. * Build and enhance Angular-based user interfaces and platform functionality. * Integrate frontend components with backend APIs and services. * Refactor legacy or inefficient code while minimizing disruption to existing functionality. * Develop secure, maintainable, and reusable application components. * Troubleshoot complex production issues across the frontend, backend, database, and infrastructure layers. * Review code and help establish engineering standards and development best practices. * Write automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests. * Participate in technical planning, architecture discussions, sprint planning, and code reviews. * Document architectural decisions, technical workflows, APIs, and major system changes. * Collaborate with product leadership and other engineers to deliver new cybersecurity and compliance capabilities. ## Required Qualifications * At least 7 years of professional full-stack software development experience. * Expert-level experience with Java and enterprise Java application development. * Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Security, and related Java technologies. * Advanced experience with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. * Demonstrated experience improving or redesigning backend architecture for an existing SaaS platform. * Strong knowledge of REST API design, microservices, service-oriented architecture, and distributed systems. * Experience working with relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and query optimization. * Experience with application performance optimization and production troubleshooting. * Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, role-based access control, and secure software development. * Experience writing unit, integration, and automated application tests. * Experience using Git and working within structured code-review and deployment processes. * Ability to analyze an existing codebase and make improvements without unnecessarily rebuilding stable functionality. * Strong written and verbal English communication skills. * Ability to work independently, communicate blockers, and provide reliable progress updates. ## Preferred Qualifications * Previous experience developing cybersecurity, governance, risk, compliance, audit, privacy, or third-party risk management software. * Experience building multi-tenant enterprise SaaS applications. * Experience with Azure or another major cloud platform. * Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native application architecture. * Experience with event-driven architecture, message queues, background processing, and scheduled jobs. * Knowledge of OWASP secure coding practices and common application-security vulnerabilities. * Experience with application logging, monitoring, observability, and performance-management tools. * Familiarity with artificial intelligence integrations, large language model APIs, or AI-enabled SaaS functionality. * Experience working with high-volume data, reporting systems, dashboards, workflow engines, or rules-based platforms. ## Initial Priorities The selected engineer’s initial work will focus primarily on: 1. Reviewing the current Java backend architecture and identifying areas for improvement. 2. Developing a prioritized technical-debt and architecture-improvement plan. 3. Improving backend scalability, maintainability, security, and performance. 4. Strengthening APIs and integrations between the Java backend and Angular frontend. 5. Supporting the continued development of new cybersecurity SaaS features. 6. Improving testing, documentation, deployment reliability, and engineering standards. ## Engagement Details * Long-term contract engagement. * Consistent weekly availability is required. * Work will be completed remotely. * Some overlap with U.S. Eastern Time business hours is preferred. * The engineer must be available for scheduled technical and product meetings. * The initial engagement may begin with a defined architecture review and development milestone, followed by ongoing product development. ## What We Are Looking For We are looking for more than someone who can complete assigned tickets.
