# Architectural Designer – Prefabricated Compact Home Range for New Zealand We are looking for an experienced architect or architectural designer to help develop the concept design for a new range of compact prefabricated homes for the New Zealand market. We are initially looking to develop two models: * **Approx. 50–70sqm** – two-bedroom home * **Approx. 20–30sqm** – studio cabin The priority will be developing the larger two-bedroom model first. Once we have established the overall design language and construction approach, the smaller model will follow the same style. ## What we're looking for We want someone with strong residential design skills who understands that these need to be **commercially repeatable products**, rather than one-off architectural homes. The designs should be: * Contemporary but relatively simple * Suitable for prefabricated / off-site construction * Efficient to manufacture * Based around practical timber-frame construction * Designed with standard material dimensions in mind * Simple in structural form and roof design * Efficiently planned, particularly around kitchen/bathroom plumbing * Strong indoor/outdoor connection * Appropriate for the New Zealand residential market We already have reference designs, floor plans, imagery and ideas that will form the starting point for the project. We are open to the designer improving on these ideas rather than simply reproducing them. ## Initial Deliverables For the first 50–70sqm concept we would expect: * Dimensioned floor plan * Four exterior elevations * Kitchen and bathroom layout * Window and door locations * Furniture layout * Exterior architectural renders ## New Zealand experience Previous experience working on **New Zealand residential projects would be highly regarded**. The successful designer does not need to provide or certify the final New Zealand building consent documentation. We will work with a New Zealand-based architectural designer/LBP and engineers for final technical design, compliance and consenting. However, familiarity with New Zealand timber construction, building standards and residential design conventions would be a significant advantage. ## Longer-term opportunity This is not intended to be a one-off rendering project. We are developing a small range of repeatable prefabricated homes and would ideally like to find a designer we can continue working with as the product range develops. The initial project will be the **50–70sqm two-bedroom flagship model**. If the relationship works well, we would then move into the smaller studio model and potentially additional models and configurations. ## To Apply Please provide: 1.
